"You're going to have to bring your own consumables if you join their raid group, and they're going to expect solid play while you're there."

3rd grade. I think I was 8 years old. That was 17 years ago, and i have retained the knowledge to this very day. I will now pat myself on the back.

All these people not caring in this thread, indicates that intellect is not a valued personal characteristic.
What a shame.

I really don't think so.

I think some of the people who state they don't care, just might not understand why it's so bothersome to others. I think people are often too quick to point out the flaws of others.

We're all flawed.

I'm sorry but I don't feel anything close to physical pain when I see someone use improper grammar. Personally, I really have a hard time understanding why others are often times so easily irritated. Seems like a painful way to go about life.

Have you had to read something 3 or more times just to try and understand what it means?

Yes, but not because of any of the examples provided in this thread. I feel I'd be the one at fault, If I couldn't understand someone's intended meaning if they happened to switch, "their" and "there".

You can argue all day that proper spelling does not matter, but I beg to differ. When someone is attempting to argue or make a point, but can not use "they're, thier, there" in the correct context, it is proof that the person has either...

A) done very little reading

or

B) has read but has very little memory retention

How can people be expected to be taken seriously when they obviously havnt taken time out of thier life to read anything worthwhile and/or can not remember basic english? Just wondering.....

So don't take them seriously, and move on. That's basically all I'm saying. Every day there are threads, where people begin to list all of the things they hate about others. This goes well beyond spelling and grammar, though the reasoning as to why one feels it's the right thing to do always pretty much remains the same.

People seem to think that being on the internet is an excuse to throw out every rule of existing. When you speak and behave in a manner that displays a lack of understanding of the very language you speak, others have every right to infer that you are an idiot.

I'm not talking about minor grammatical errors. I'm talking about people that are so ungodly lazy that they actually have to abbreviate PRONOUNS now. That's right! We're abbreviating abbreviations.

Don't you sometimes wonder why people assume every American/video game player/WoW player is a complete and total moron? It's because the vast majority of us behave like they are, even if they know better.

You should know better Eyonix.

If you really think this matter is exclusive to video game forums, I strongly encourage you to visit nearly every other chat location on the internet.

Second, observing "the laziness" of others on the internet doesn't affect my life or personal well-being, and it is in no way upsetting to me. If the education of those living in your geographical location is your concern, posting a rant about poor spelling and grammar on World of Warcraft.com, is not a constructive solution to a problem.
