Wrath of Lich King Install Questions

Hello Everyone,

Since I know this will be coming up here's a few things that you might find useful:

The Wrath of the Lich Kind DVD is all inclusive, meaning it will install WOW, BC and WotLK games all in one take. So you don't need to install the Original WOW, the Burning Crusade and finally the Wrath of the Lich King games. And if you have had any issues with the previous games, I would recommend uninstalling the game and all the preference files and install from from the WotLK DVD.

You do have to have an active Burning Crusade Account in order to upgrade to the Wrath of the Lich King account and have access to the new areas and be able to lvl to 80.

Patches: after the install you will need to download the 3.0.1 to 3.0.2 patch and the 3.0.2 to 3.0.3 patch again. No other patches will be needed. That is until the next future patch comes out, of course.

If you are going to install on top of the WoW that's already in your Mac, make sure that your logged in to the same account that was used to install the previous versions of WoW.

Just in case you want to start fresh (like I will):

In order to remove World of Warcraft safely from your system, you will need to:

1. go to your Mac HD/Applications folder and move your World of Warcraft to the Trash
2. go to your Mac HD/Users/Shared folder and move the Blizzard folder to the Trash
3. go to your Mac HD/Users/your account/Library/Preferences and delete any files associated with WOW:
(you might not have all of these files since I'm running a lot more versions of WOW)

- com.blizzard.downloader.plist
- com.blizzard.Downloader.prefs
- com.blizzard.errorreporter.plist
- com.blizzard.Installer.plist
- com.blizzard.launcher.plist
- com.blizzard.World of Warcraft.prefs
- com.blizzard.World of Warcraft.survey.prefs

4. empty Trash
5. Install World of Warcraft, then Burning Crusade, then download and install the patches.***

*** ( What I would recommend is downloading the World of Warcraft Full Client Installer and patching it, since this will get you to version 2.3.0 to begin with and you will have less patches to download, and also you won't need to install the Burning Crusade. )

Hello Tigyrkolakas,

Do you use a router ? If not set up to work with our servers it's working against you and will make a download 4 times as long. So a 1 hour download will take 4 hours.

Firewalls can be found in routers and DSL modems.

For routers you can go to http://www.portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/routerindex.htm
- select your specific router
- select World of Warcraft Downloader
- follow the walk-through instructions

For DSL modems, change the Private IP setting to a Public IP setting (look at bottom of modem for sticker with instructions)

No matter how simple the ??? seem, we were all nbs at one time.
Grab your free Apple mount here !!! (okay I lied, it's a survey)
