WoW Crashing Immiditly after logging on

by Hateinplate | 18/03/2007 10:53:49

I have combed the forums and Stickys and am not seeing any solutions for this problem.

Upon logging on and selecting my char, it will load WoW and it will get all the way into the game (for mabye 2 seconds) and instantly close WoW completely. No Error log is created, no WoW crash log is created. I am running TBC.

My PC specs and Vista Ratings are:

Windows Vista 64 Ultimate
Intel Core 2 6300 ( 5.0 )
2GB DDR2 667MHz ( 5.5 )
8800 GTS (Running the most current Nvida driver) ( 5.9 )

I have disabled UAC, attempted to run in XP SP2 mode, re-installed WoW and TBC twice, redownloaded all patches, turned off all unnessesary programs, as well as securityh software.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Q u o t e:
well he choses the game over his gf, cause uh look at her. what would i do if she did that to my wow gaming. id tell her to put down the fork and stfu.

Hi all,

You all are reporting that the game crashes to the desktop right after logging on. The two similarities that exists are Vista Ultimate 64-bit editions and a GeForce 8800GTS or GTX card, possibly some other nVidia 7000 series cards. Quite a few of the logs are Windows-supplied version of the driver. What happens if you use http://www.nvidia.com/object/winvista_x64_100.65.html instead of that?
What happens if you go in your device manager and disable your sound card? Did you install any Windows Vista Ultimate updates like Bitlocker?

My machine is the closest to Carbalice's with a few exceptions:

Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit
Athlon 64 x2 3800+ instead of a x2 4400+
ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe instead of a A8N32 variant
3 GB RAM (2x1024 MB and 2x512 MB) DDR2700
eVGA GeForce 8800GTS 320MB
Audigy X-Fi XtremeGamer

I haven't had it just exit to desktop.

note, if you have a different OS than the ones in this thread (like the Win2k one), please post in another thread as yours is most likely not the same as these.

Does anything get logged at all in the World of Warcraft\Errors\ folder? Does it still CTD if you just use a single stick of RAM in the system?
