Why make contest rules?

Blizzard,

I hold no ill will to the winners of the costume contest but if you are going to make rules enforce them, assuming people will not break them is not getting the job done.

1st place winner was a great costume, but she works for a modeling agency (http://www.apotheosis-agency.com) that was paid to work at the Cryptozoic booth. The owner of this modeling agency is Jo-Jo Chen, this years Direct TV interview girl. This is why the rules are in place to help avoid any chance of a belief that the results may have been swayed. There were other members of the modeling agency also in the contest who did not place but also ignored the rules.

To be eligible to win a prize, entries must be completed and received by Sponsor in the format designated below. Directors, officers and employees of Sponsor, its parent, and any of their respective affiliate companies, subsidiaries, agents, professional advisers, advertising and promotional agencies, and immediate families of each are not eligible to win any prizes.

2nd place was illidan, Although his costume was impressive once again blizzard overlooks its own rules.

5(i) Must be not be wider than 10 feet across, longer than 10 feet, nor taller than 10 feet;

You will notice that on the first walk across stage he is on hoofs which placed him over the 10 foot rule and this is also how he was judged. According to fellow cosplayers, He raged out and they allowed him back in after he had been disqualified, which is why his second time on stage he is walking in his shoes. Apparently fell back stage which is why he took off the stilts and why he took so long to come out.

Blizz,

I don't expect any changes or retractions of awards but for all of us who do follow the rules, you cheapen the work we do. Enforce the rules please, that is all we ask.

I believe we've already replied to you on all of these accusations. I'm not sure why'd you be posting about it again, but as others may have the same questions I'll address them here.

I'm not aware of the winner's employment with the company you stated, or any agreement that company may have had with Cryptozoic. But it's not very important given that...

Cryptozoic is none of these. Furthermore, any agencies they work with would be further removed from this line. An affiliate, which may be the confusing word to relate Cryptozoic to Blizzard, is a company such as Activision Publishing Inc. being an affiliate of Blizzard Entertainment Inc. Cryptozoic is not an affiliate, subsidiary, agency, etc.

He wasn't. We're well aware of our own rules.

Then they told you incorrect information. He was very nice, although his costume was obviously uncomfortable, judged appropriately as he fit within the rules, and won second place. Congratulations again to him.

We take our rules seriously, we enforce them properly, and appreciate your concern, but would appreciate it more if you would bring these up with us directly.

We really enjoy having the costume contest, we try our best to make sure the rules have requirements in them that help make it as fair as possible, and as smooth a process as we can. We're more than willing to take feedback on how we can continue improving, and discuss it with you. Just not in this thread. :)
