When will this latency issue get a fix?

i have been checking out this forum and have read so many topics... And really starting to lose faith in Blizz being able to give us a straight answer/solution to what really is happening to us mac users... :(

Everyone has been doing all the instructions that has been given, posting out Netstats, pings, traceroutes. But the real question still remains unanswered; This latency issue only surfaced big time after the Patch sometime in March...

One topic that really caught my attention here is the story of the couple, where the girl is playing on a mac and the bf on pc on the same ISP / network connection (router) and only the MAC gets the latency problem. She even went to the extend of buying a new MAC and reinstalling from scratch everything, and still to no avail...

So the question now is when will we really get a real fix or let alone be informed of what really is happening to us mac users?

Just today i missed out on 25 raid as the latency is really crazy, starts at 600 then jumps to 8k then DC galore... :( Its not my net, its not my ISP, its not my Router, Not my Mac. because all is working well vent is still running, and i am nor writing here in the forum where everything loads up pretty fast.

So please Blizz, i really do hope that we get a fix on this once and for all on tuesday.

Let's run a trace:

1. Go to Mac HD => Applications => Utilities folder.
2. Open the Network Utility program.
3. Choose Traceroute tab.
4. In the box enter: us.logon.battle.net
5. Click the Trace button.
6. Select all the data that comes up in the box below.
7. Command + C to copy the data.
8. In your reply, use Command + V to paste the data.

To get a trace to the realm while you're connected:
1. Go to Mac HD => Applications => Utilities folder.
2. Open the Network Utility program.
3. Choose Netstat]/b] tab and leave "Display the state of all current socket connections" selected.
4. Click "Scan."
5. Find the first foreign address that says [b]bnetgam
.
6. Copy/paste the IP address into the Traceroute tab.
7. Command + C to copy the data resulting from the trace.
8. In your reply, use command + V to paste the data.

All knowledge is worth having.

@Aaylah

Your problems are starting on the router, hop 1:

Q u o t e:
1 192.168.1.1 (192.168.1.1) 195.311 ms 376.278 ms 287.325 ms

I would suggest a powercycle of your network:

Q u o t e:
1. Unplug your modem and router (if you have one.)
2. Let them set for 30-60 seconds.
3. Plug them back in modem first, then the router.
4. Reboot your computer.
5. Test WoW.

@Ketsu

The problem here actually seems to be with your modem:

Q u o t e:
3 254.191.54.110.mkt.wi-tribe.ph (110.54.191.254) 117.618 ms 73.395 ms 84.990 ms

and

Q u o t e:
3 254.191.54.110.mkt.wi-tribe.ph (110.54.191.254) 146.374 ms 74.002 ms 80.270 ms

At least these look like your modem. Do you have 2 routers? This could be causing some of the problem if you do. I would suggest a powercycle for you, too. If that doesn't work, you may need to investigate the reason your modem is giving a high ping then dropping by 1/2 on pings 2 & 3. This may require a conversation with your ISP.

Can we bypass the routers?

- Unplug the power to your modem.
- Follow the ethernet cable from the modem to the router. Unplug it from the router.
- Plug this end into your computer.
- Plug the power back into your modem and let it start up.
- Restart your computer.
- Test.

Hello Ketsu,

Your connection sucks. Nothing we can do about it. Contact your service provider to ask for better service for the $50 + money you spend each month.

At hop: 12 192.205.35.145 (192.205.35.145) 278.715 ms 280.252 ms 279.696 ms

you are over the 250 millisecond high latency marker.

Hello Ketsu,

Other things you mentioned aren't internet hogs like WoW is, if you add all the other activities into one, you will come close to the amount of throughput the game is asking for.

The main issue is that it's not something you did or anything you have control over. The hops or nodes that it takes for you to connect from your computer to your router then modem then the nodes your service provider is using to get to us start having issues at the hop I mentioned. You pay the service provider to make sure that the nodes they use are working well, even though some of them should have been bulldozed and completely rebuilt decades ago. And if a node is borderline bad, you can bet an online game like WoW will test that node and make it fail.

Give your service provider a call, it's time they start providing you with a better internet experience. And good luck. When talking to them make sure not to mention anything about online games, we had a person here in tech that used to work for one of those providers and she mentioned how she was taught to blame the connection on online games, as if demanding a better internet connection was a sin. Tell them you are having issue connecting to a private server, whether it's a ftp site for work or a banking server, it really shouldn't matter but they need to check that node and see if there's an issue there.
