****If your driver dates to pre-7/2008, please update your driver and try the game before posting!****

We're currently collecting more information so that we can try to reproduce the following symptoms more accurately:

  • Error message: "Display driver igfx stopped responding and has successfully recovered"
  • Intermittent black screen appears for few seconds then returns to the game

If this happens to you and you have an Intel 965 (or later) video card on Windows Vista, please post with the following information:

Did you install Service Pack 1?
Did you get the latest updates from Windows Update?
Did you install the latest build of DirectX?

Did you install the latest Intel drivers for your card?

Where does the crash happen most often? Is it a certain area or when you're doing a specific action?
Is it time-based, like maybe X minutes into the game?

Banreservas, we do not see this issue with any NVIDIA products outside of the early Vista beta builds. Most failures are hardware-based, either from the video card not powering properly or the card itself is defective. Please do not post about unrelated hardware in this thread. Only Intel ones apply :)

2007 drivers will work fine with World of Warcraft but the complaint is that the 2008 drivers enables hardware shader support for the 965s, which newer game titles require. Also it's the one on Windows Update that people like to install :)

Edited the post to have people try updated 7/2008 drivers first before posting to test the crash (seemingly gone) and an alt+tab problem.
