Updated with Fix: 3.3.0 Patch Issues !!!

Hello Everyone,


We are aware of certain issues that have come up during this latest patch and we are addressing them as fast as possible. At this time I would like to acknowledge them:

1.) You can't scroll slowly with the mouse

- - we have a fix which will be available in a future patch

2) Using the command key in combination with other keys can turn on auto-run

- - we have a fix which will be available in a future patch
- - please try to remap your PTT key in vent to something other than Command
- - use a 2 buttons mouse if you can

3.) Mac OS 10.6 trackpad lag

- - we have a fix which will be available in a future patch

4.) Desktop gamma doesn't work

- - we have a fix which will be available in a future patch

5.) VSync doesn't work

- - we have a fix which will be available in a future patch

6.) Refresh rate is disabled

- - This is not a bug. We let MacOS choose the best refresh rate available. This is more reliable. Also LCD screens don't have a refresh rate.



There might be other issues as well, but the ones above are ones we are aware of and have started working on fixes, or workarounds. As soon as I know anything more I will post. Just wanted to acknowledge the ones above for you guys.


That being said, please post about the issues above only, I will not lock this post just so we can look into possible options on our ends, as players. For any other issues, please keep posting in other threads.


We will deliver this future patch as soon as possible. Sorry for the delay.

UPDATE 4:20pm:

We plan to release a patch that will address these issues within a week's time (possibly sooner) . In the meantime, you can avoid these issues by following these steps:;

1) Close the WoW application
2) Navigate to your main World of Warcraft folder
3) Open the config.wtf file in your WTF folder using TextEdit
4) Add the following line to the bottom of the file: SET gxapi "OpenGL"
5) Save and Close
6) Restart WoW

You can verify that you are using the old OpenGL backend by looking at the minimize/yellow button in window mode. If it's grey then you are using the old backend and the fix above worked.

We want to apologize once again for the the inconvenience these issues have caused you. We do value your continued support and appreciate you hanging in there with us over the past few days.

Hello Everyone,


I'm reading all your posts from when I started this thread and I can't apologize enough for certain things that the patch has brought about. I, too, am getting graphic choppiness (iMac with 4850 graphics card and 4GB memory, Mac OS 10.5.8). But it seems some of you are getting worse results.

Here are a few things that helped me:

- since most major patches raise the graphics level by 1/4th, I downgraded my graphics settings by 1/4 or more when possible
- got rid of old junk data : delete the Cache, WTF and Interface Æ’olders (All of my AddOns were out of data anyway)
- reset DNS cache (this helps with connections, especially since servers underwent maintenance)

I'm trying to find out more info for you guys, and trying to come up with solutions. Keep posting and also if anything you have done has helped with the game, please please let me/us know.

Hello Everyone,


Just spoke to the powers that be, and they are working on a bunch of updates. Impossible to get an ETA, but just wanted to let you guys know, certain issues are being addressed.

And I, personally, like the fact that in our community, the guys that make this awesome game, can take the time to get me the info to give you guys. Too many companies that I have worked for just leave you in a cold dark cave and let you fend for yourself.

Look, I know some things are bad after the patch, it's impossible to test for everything, so when a new PTR comes out, take some time to test it out, it helps the developers catch these types of issues early on, and when you do see a bug or an issue, scream your head off about it. We aren't a huge community like the Windows players, but we are a tight community, and because of that we do have the ear of the devs and the powers that be, use that to our advantage while we have it.

Okay, sentimental moment is over. Anyone with the blueish color try turning off the Full Screen Glow and get some good results ?

Thank you for the understanding, and yes, things are definitely being addressed, believe me.

The Mac people, here at Blizzard have become more prominent in the last few years since our player base is growing, and the communication between us techs, myself and Lucy has become even more evident, which is always a great thing, since we act as a voice sometimes for you guys to those that make the game. There are a number of issues and upcoming upgrades to the game which will make it even better, but like anything that that's worth doing it takes a while to mold. And our Macs and Mac OS is changing as well so it's nice to see an increase in communications between you guys, the techs and the devs in order to make a great game. I'm sorry that I don't have too many details, since the game is always changing so if I say we are working on this and that, by tomorrow one of the devs might have come up with something even better and scrapped this and that.

And keep comments, solutions and even ideas coming, please.

I can definitely confirm that, the devs are working on a few ways to make it work even better. The graphics aspect of the game is extremely important as you can guess, so a few devs are coming up with creative ways to make the game faster, smoother and more graphically robust. Don't know if they are consolidating layers or adding new ones, or changing textures but I know that one dev in particular is looking into several things specifically to do with the OpenGL engine. ( I opted to be used as a guinea pig for any thing he wants me to test, we'll see what happens, hehe ). If I find out anything more I will definitely let you guys know.

I'm getting the same issue, so I have more of a vested interest in getting that one resolved, but hey, I work here, give me a break, haha.

But seriously, there are a number of things being addressed with that issue in mind. Not sure if this will come in a form of a hot fix or just a complete patch update, but solution is being worked on as we speak.

I mentioned the 2 button mouse because with a 1 button mouse you always use cmd-click. That said, we realize that there are other reasons to use the command key...

Hello Lierni aka keyboard turner,


Awesome demonstration video, thank you so much for doing that. Looks like the input never sees additional data, just goes with the few commands before they either buffer out or just never get through to update your toon's movement.

Okay the following is just a bad question, but I have to ask, sorry. Is the tablet seen correctly as an input device in the Apple menu => System Preferences. Also what happens if you disconnect the table, wait 10 seconds and reconnect it, while in the game. Do the commands go through finally ? This is a big issues, but I'm just trying to understand why and how this happens, for now.

BTW: I'm going to be here for another 3 + hours, so keep asking/telling me anything you wish, um, about your Mac and WoW, that is, heh.

Looks like we are seeing some positive results from the code that Padim, one of the Mac dev's was nice enough to add to this post.

And thank you for the updates, keep them coming.

Also thank you guys for being so cool about all of this, I know it's frustrating, I totally do:
(80 level : Paly, Hunter, Mage, Rogue, Shamy, 78 level: Druid, level 70: Lock, Priest, Warrior)

I play a bit, so I know how awesome the game is when it's working just right, and how it is when things don't work, especially when it's something not caused by us. Keep the updates coming, for better or worse. Let's get these issues fixed.

Side Note: I'll take full credit for things I do, but I can't take credit for other people's ingenuity. Padim and S4d1k should take the credit on this fix : )

With the new OpenGL backend we also use Cocoa instead of Carbon and it seems that we hit a few bugs inside Cocoa. This includes the issues with the command key and the trackpad lag.

Hello Everyone,


Just wanted to say good night for today, since I'll be taking off soon, but I wanted to give my sincerest thank you to you all for keeping cool and civilized during this whole patch, but then again we are Mac people. I know there are issues and they are definitely being addressed. And I'm glad that our devs were able to get us a quick fix. But things could have been ugly as I know how frustrating things get, so thank you again.

Blergh, can you tell me what version of MacOS you are using?

You should try deleting your WTF folder, disabling all your addons and readding SET gxapi "OpenGL" to your config.wtf file.
