Hello all. I recently had to quit WOW because I simply could not update the game. I've decided to try harder to get it to work, but I need some help. I have a first generation Macbook Pro. So, it's definitely seen better days, but for the most part, it still works perfect. When I try to update the game, it always stops somewhere in the 70 or 80% area, and gives me a message saying a certain file could not be opened. The most recent time it said "machdfiles" The file is always random. I've settled issues like this before dealing with permissions and things, and it worked, but nothing seems to be working this time. Now, something worth mention is I think there is some sort of...corruption on my computer. Not like a virus, but an internal hardware problem. It wont burn cd's and sometimes has trouble reading them. I have had some trouble with it where it wouldn't turn on and things like that, but did an Archive and Reinstall and got it fixed up. But ever since then, WOW has not been working. I know this is a lot of vague information, but it's all I know to say, I don't know a lot behind how computers work. Pretty much the answer is....time for a new Macbook Pro, but unfortunately I can't afford one. I love that this one still works pretty dang good considering its going on what...4 years. Anyway, thanks for all the help. Any suggestions, simple or not, would be appreciated greatly.

With all the issues you listed I'm going to the Mac OS might be corrupted idea. What Mac OS are you using and can you do an Archive & Install of the Mac OS and just put a new one on the Mac ?

Archive & Install
- Preserve Network & Users settings
(Make sure both are checked)


This will just put a brand new system on your Mac and leave all of your personal stuff completely alone.
