i was running around and all NPCs vanished. I had to alt+F4 my game, tried to get back in, stuck at retrieving character list, then it boots me to the login.

There appears to have been an issue affecting several realms that should now be resolved. If you are still experiencing any issues logging into one of your characters, then your character may be 'stuck'. While we're unable to resolve such issues via the forum, you can certainly submit an in-game petition from a different character on the same account, and a member of our staff will do their utmost to help as swiftly as possible!

When you submit such a petition, it's best to keep the following points in mind:

• Always use the ‘Character Stuck’ button when you submit this kind of petition.
• Include the word 'stuck' in your petition.
• Include the name and realm of the stuck character.
• Include where your character was before they got stuck
• Mention whether you are stuck at the loading screen, are unable to remain in-game, are trapped on terrain, are unable to find your body, or fell ‘through the world’

I'd like to reassure you that we're not out to blame everything on 'your end' and that our staff are really just doing everything they can to help. There are specific issues our staff are able to respond to more swiftly, such as petitions regarding stuck characters, for example.

The reason why a Game Master might request that you perform a User Interface Reset, is because (believe it or not) a great many issues are indeed caused by corrupt game files or out of date Addons. Since corrupt game files can be a culprit, these steps often prove useful even when no Addons are installed.

Obviously, some issues are realm based, but client side issues can be a contributing factor. Asking one of our players to perform those steps is a first-step troubleshooting measure which helps eliminate possible causes. It's worth mentioning that periodic full UI resets can help prevent a character from becoming 'stuck' at all.
