Battle.net accounts on USWest, USEast, Europe and Asia isn't the same thing as this Battle.net account. It's more of a Blizzard Store account rather than the accounts mentioned previously. We're looking into why the normal WoW accounts aren't able to log on. Tech Support Trainer: Congratulations, your mind has been expanded. Me: Whoa. Everything that you wanted to know about the new Battle.net account can be found at http://www.blizzard.com/account There's a Learn More link there. Basically it's your Blizzard Store account. You can toss in your old game CD-Keys (except Warcraft II: Battle.net Edition) and it saves your stuff there. It can also save your World of Warcraft accounts. Once you sign up for it, you'll have to use that system to log into the game. Tech Support Trainer: Congratulations, your mind has been expanded. Me: Whoa. Battle.net accounts are flexible in that one Battle.net account can hold up to 8 (I think) World of Warcraft accounts. If you don't want to sign up for one, you don't have to but it means you can't get in at this time. We're still investigating why normal accounts can't get thru on the Mac. There is no ETA at this time. If you wish to cancel your subscription, Account Management should still be up. It won't help us get to the root of the problem any faster so these types of threats are uncalled for. Tech Support Trainer: Congratulations, your mind has been expanded. Me: Whoa. If you have multiple people on one Battle.net account, you log onto the game using the Battle.net account (email address + password + optional Authenticator). A list of accounts will pop up. You can pick the one you want to get on. Multiple people can log onto one Battle.net account but only one person can be on the World of Warcraft account. The main issue is that the login server isn't correctly working. You have a few choices so far: 1. Log onto a PC 2. Wait until we fix it 3. Make a Battle.net account, which bypasses the login server with a different login server 4. (your other option that you posted) Cancel your subscription. We're on #2 but the other choices are available to you. This type of account is not required at this time and will remain so until further notice. Our department does not deal with either the World of Warcraft account or the Battle.net account. You may want to call the Billing department to see if such a thing is possible. http://us.blizzard.com/support/article.xml?articleId=20606 If you play older Blizzard titles or might like to make usage of the Blizzard Online Store, I don't see why you would want to revert the merge. It's a centralized area that lets you store stuff, order stuff and add stuff. Tech Support Trainer: Congratulations, your mind has been expanded. Me: Whoa. You can merge up to 8 (I think) into one Battle.net account. You can still log on as the following: someemail@someplace.com -> Account 1 someemail@someplace.com -> Account 2 You can't do: someemail@someplace.com -> Account 1 someemail@someplace.com -> Account 1 Same as the old ruleset except now you have a "main" account name and password. You're on a Mac so you have the security advantage over Windows folks, so *less* of a keylogger problem there. Other than that, I've posted several times that we're looking at the main cause of this. You can always use your normal account on either a PC or BootCamp into Windows as an alternative to everything else stated here.
While I understand that you pay for the service, unexpected outages will happen from time to time. We try our best to minimalize this. I have already explained that there are two login systems for World of Warcraft right now... it just happens that the old system isn't working correctly for Mac people. If you were to log onto your normal World of Warcraft account, does it complain and tell you to log on using the Battle.net account? Let me aware you a prize since April 1, 2009 is approaching: http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/items/tinfoilhat.xml I can assure you this situation was unintentional. Some players found a workaround by merging into the new Bnet accounts, so we have been using it as a suggestion for those looking for a temporary workaround. This issue seems to be resolved, many players that have not converted their accounts have commented they can login fine again. Mmmrrrggglll! Hello, my baby! Hello, my honey! Hello, my ragtime gal! by Datth | 23/03/2009 22:17:26![]() I don't see how someone having your email address will mean that they will brute force you. I'm sure a lot of people out there know of my .support email address, which I've also use for various Battle.net accounts. Those were never broken into. Both the Battle.net system and World of Warcraft login systems deter permit brute-force hacking since there's a nice time delay when you fail too many times. I believe most email providers do the same type of work. [ Post edited by Datth ] Tech Support Trainer: Congratulations, your mind has been expanded. Me: Whoa. That type of system and isn't applicable to most folks unless they were really laxed about their security. This issue is outside of the scope of this department. If you'd like to see a different type of login system, you can go to the Suggestion forum and pitch in an idea. Tech Support Trainer: Congratulations, your mind has been expanded. Me: Whoa. by Datth | 23/03/2009 23:16:52![]() The Technical Support department does not design or implement these systems. They're handled by different sets of developers. In this case, it's the Battle.net team. The only way to get to them is to use the Suggestions forum - http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/board.html?sid=1&forumId=11122 The current system is what is in place right now. We can assist you in using that, add games, add a World of Warcraft account and so forth. Anything else we do not have control over.
