So tired of certain settings not staying set.

Hycetheeis

For years now I'll login to WoW and _periodically_ (it's not a permissions problem if it's not always happening, unless WoW somehow magically acquires superuser powers at random times and is able to write to mistakenly protected settings files, yet other times does not. FYI - I've checked permissions anyway for an unrelated WoW problem) the following will happen, not necessarily all at once:

My combat log will be moved from where I placed it and placed directly underneath my chat log resulting in a jumble of letters.

My combat log will be unlocked.

Recently (since 3.3ish) two new problems have surfaced:

Tracked quests are all or partly untracked.

Various icons around my minimap will be visible when they're set to only display on hover I use SexyMap so go ahead and claim that one not a Blizzard issue).

Forgetting the newer issues, I'd just really like to know why WoW is periodically (sometimes the settings can last a few days, other times the very next login results in them being changed again) overwriting various settings I make.

Again I stress it is NOT a permissions issue. It cannot be a permissions issue unless WoW is either hacking superuser privileges (else how can the affected settings sometimes persist days?) or performing magic.

Hello Hycetheeis,

It depends on how you exit the game and if you are disconnected as well. So let's see if we can find a pattern:

- do you log out of the game and then exit or just exit the game or do you press command + q ?
- do you ever get disconnected ?
- also do you have multiple users on your Mac that play the game ?

No matter how simple the ??? seem, we were all nbs at one time.
