Should I just transfer me and my wife / quit?

by Absolutrayne | 08/09/2008 08:52:12

Absolutrayne

I'm not going to hide behind an alt, because i've been dealing with this for far too long to care anymore.

For the last year and a half, maybe more, me and my wife have been constantly harassed by someone and his girlfriend on my server about an argument or something a long time ago about a guild officers decision. Its a long long story, that ended up in getting my wife many 3 hour bans, as well as myself, and the other party only getting warnings, if anything at all.

My ignore list is quite extensive at this point of all the alts i've ignored from the BOTH of them, and people who have relayed messages from them.

This has been reported MANY times by me and my wife, and i'm beyond tired of it. Nothing has been done minus a warning, a simple slap on the wrist, and the tells come from another alt, mocking me and my wife before fleeing off again.

Ive kept count, this is the 17th time Ive reported this guy for harassing me, and nothing has been done minus a warning. I'm very close to just server transferring, but i'm not willing to drop the money because someone who's so immature as to continue to create alts and harass me wont stop.

I would like a SERIOUS Blue response, not a cookie cutter 'Please Contact a GM In-Game' response, because all it has done has landed me in the same boat i'm currently in.

I thank you for your time for reading this, and hope for a response.

I see only a few petitions about this particular individual. Did you report him from a second account the other bunch of times? If so, what character was that?

I'm checking this out, but--

I guess my first question is why isn't/wasn't he on your ignore list? It doesn't make sense to me to leave lines of communication open to him on your characters if he's causing you as much grief as you say he is.

Your wife has never reported him even once, nor has your friend. :\ The grand total of petitions about this particular issue over the past few months is four.

Understand--I'm not trying to "okay" the harassment, because it's clear he's said something to you a few times, but it's also clear that you're not utilizing the proper channels to get it addressed. Coming here with hyperbole doesn't help!

The reports resulted in appropriate action each time, and if it continues after you place him on ignore on the characters you know he'll try to contact you on, please let us know in a ticket.

A simple statement that the player is harassing you, with an approximate time (in relation to your ticket), and a note that this harassment has been ongoing should be just fine.

We're on your side. We just need you to take the proper steps.

And leave the tickets open!

This. Even if you're not online, we can and will still address the ticket.

There are two options when you submit a ticket--the first is "Report An Issue", which tells the Game Master that you don't wish to speak with them, just to report the issue; the second is "Speak To A Game Master", which should be pretty self-explanatory. :)

Just make sure you pick the one that you're in the mood for.

Q u o t e:
if you are just reporting someone for harassment what do you need to speak to the GM about? just put it in the ticket

It's not unreasonable to want to clarify points for a Game Master, especially if the harassment is considered ongoing.

I for one don't like to waste my or someone elses time by engaging in unnecessary conversation but, if you don't see where i'm coming from then I guess that would go right over your head.

Good thing Game Masters are paid to talk to players, within reason :)

I know this probably isn't the proper course of action, but I think the report spam right click option automatically ignores the whole account for the time that you are online. If he continuously creates alts to circumvent the ignore function, you could try that.

This is true, but only briefly - for the duration of that session to be exact.

Please don't use report spam for this sort of situation. It was specifically developed to deal with advertisers and gold spammers. Very recently we got special dispensation for it to be used for the latest chat fad - but that was a onetime thing under very unique circumstances.

Placing an ingame petition is the best way to deal with this sort of issue.

This thread yells: LET ME DIE!

I was thinking something more along the lines of 'please kill me!'.

I am only too happy to oblige.

With reference to those that are involved in this situation? Please keep your personal conflicts out of the Customer Service Forum, and better yet, out of World of Warcraft in general.

If you have an issue with what another player says or does, please do not take it upon yourself to 'show them up'. Simply report the matter to us. If our investigation indicates that the reported action is a violation of our policies, then we will be more than happy to deal with the matter appropriately.
