Selective forum moderating
by Brbbio | 25/03/2008 01:25:16![]() Dear Drysc, I request you lock and/or delete all the following threads: http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=5281956272&p ostId=54945377208&sid=1#366 http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=5466289856&p ostId=54954170070&sid=1#1 http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=5463899681&p ostId=54928173379&sid=1#1 http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=5461889289&p ostId=54945372876&sid=1#7 http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=5461389810&p ostId=54949771896&sid=1#1 http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=5461910096&p ostId=54949772257&sid=1#2 http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=5461390245&p ostId=54928177860&sid=1#12 http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=5466290319&p ostId=54933780256&sid=1#10 http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=5461390267&p ostId=54949276473&sid=1#19 http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=5461390243&p ostId=54945379280&sid=1#1 They all contain "bump" posts. Otherwise the following statement used to lock a thread which appears to illustrate a very legitimate concern about the abuse of the arena system appears rather weak.
Your subsequent response, i.e. the use of a "petition" (see quote below) is also flawed given the post was most certainly not a petition. And people responding "me too", as you put it, is surely an expression of agreement, and is not /signing a petition. It feels that you are using selective forum moderating to ensure a very valid community concern is being silenced.

by Drysc | 25/03/2008 01:32:24![]() Hey! Thank you so much for your thread, and reports of the offending topics. In the future please feel free to make use of our built in (and highly useful ;D) reporting feature, by clicking the bio-hazard symbol next to a specific post within a thread. With your help we'll continue to fight against those who would create posts or threads to expressly disagree with or argue against the forum code of conduct and guidelines, which is of course in itself a violation of those same terms! Thanks again for your help! Seriously though, the original and second post stated "Please /bump /rebump and /triplebump this thread if you hate Arena cheating." and that's not cool. Hold a discussion, post your thoughts, be outraged, just don't encourage or contribute to spamming the forums. |

Compare it to a demonstration that isn't following the local or state laws regarding public gatherings. Do I, as an officer, refrain from following the law and dealing with those breaking it because I can't completely or even partially appease them? No, I'm going to delete, and ban, and hope that one day it kicks in that you don't have to break the law to get someone to pay attention to you. I know it's easier, it's easier to throw your plate of spaghetti on the floor than express that you'd appreciate a different meal. But all it does, all it REALLY does, seriously, is get moderators to delete and ban. No one else will ever see it. |
