Q u o t e:
does this mean i can s1 gear with honor points with the patch or when s3 starts ?

Good question, we'll be updating the FAQ with the questions that pop up throughout the week. Keep an eye on this thread.

Q u o t e:
Question:

Is personal rating per team, or is there ONE personal rating?

If it's ONE then I'm not too happy because I like to help out my lesser geared RL friends in 5v5 and don't want that to screw up my points, that's just plain mean.

The FAQ has been updated to go into a bit more detail on personal ratings, and answer some other questions that have popped up.

In short: you have a personal rating for each team you're on, the same as separate team ratings for each team.

Answer this question:

Is Merciless Gladiator title still going into the game as a reward for the #1 team of each bracket?

If so, does Blizzard acknowledge the blatant win trading (aka using feeder teams) that many teams are doing to cheat the system, thus cheapening the reward?

I believe it's still just "Gladiator", I haven't heard otherwise as of yet.

In any case, yes, fully acknowledged and that's why the personal rating system is being used to help determine the end of season rewards in Season 3. For the current season though it's going to play out how it plays out.

Q u o t e:

This is a very confusing issue because on the PTR forums in the Patch Notes it clearly reads:

PvP
Arenas
• The top ranked team of each battlegroup for each format will receive a new unique title for the end of Season 2 called “Merciless Gladiator”.

Please look into this and explain.

Oh ok, maybe it is called Merciless Gladiator then. I'm not sure how much of an issue that is though...

Q u o t e:
I am asking if the wording is correct and it is just the #1 team.

This would be a completely new addition to s2 and deserves at least a mention, especially since you specifically mention a netherdrake distinguishable from the season 1 netherdrake.

This would be a "distinguishable" title.

I just checked on it, it's a title for the top #1 team of each battlegroup for each team size. I'll update the FAQ with that info, thanks for bringing it up, it was total news to me.

Q u o t e:
Does my personal ratings all reset to 1500 as well? Meaning, is everyone barred from getting a S3 weapon/shoulder piece as soon as S3 starts, and we have to work up our ratings again and wait until next tuesday for them?

Yes.

Q u o t e:
I have a question,

I understand how the personal rating works now, but if we bring our personal rating high enough during the week and have enough arena points saved up, can I buy the item right then and there? Or do I have to wait till the following Tuesday to purchase it?

Thanks.

Your rating is your rating, Tuesday is just when you get your points. If it's Friday night and you play a match and hit 1850 you can shimmy on over and pick up your weapon.

Q u o t e:

Will Season 3 Honor gear be released with the patch or season 3? Season 1 Honor is called Generals not Vindicator. Or are you trying to refer to Season 1 Arena gear being buyable with honor, post doesn't make sense.

I'm operating under the terms that honor gear and the honor system does not have seasons, the honor Season 1 gear is the arena Season 1 gear, which when moved to honor will be called Vindicator.

I think it's far simpler and less convoluted to simply refer to seasons and their gear in arena terms, as that's the driving factor for their dispersal.

Season 3 honor gear won't be available until Season 5 starts. :)

Q u o t e:
Does anyone have any idea how many teams are actually "valid" teams in terms of ranking?

Unfortunately there's no easy way to determine this from just a player standpoint. We do hope to implement something for the armory that will provide accurate indications of qualified team numbers for each bracket, and possibly if a team is currently qualified or not. That won't be ready before the end of Season 2; however.

Umm...although that would be nice we couldn't possibly expect you to do something as handy as that. Just looking for clarification on whether the inactive teams are counted toward the total or not. Assuming not from the "tone" of this post, but again, I have to assume rather than just get the answer from you directly.

Probably not the best tone to take if you're attempting to get help from someone that isn't required to help you. The information's there, figure it out for yourself.

I'm still not entirely clear myself.

Lets assume there are 100 teams in a battlegroup, and 10% of those teams will get a title. Of the 100 teams, 10 are found to be ineligible for titles.

Does this mean that titles go to the top 10% of the 90 remaining eligible teams, meaning 9 teams will get titles?

Or does this mean that titles go to the top 10 teams, skipping over those who are ineligible for titles?

I'm not clear on this, and I don't think the FAQ is clear either. Basically, when calculating the total # of teams in a battlegroup to determine the # of teams that will get a title, does that total calculation include teams that are ineligible for end-of-season reward titles?

Ok, ok.

Say there's 1000 teams total in some bracket. 200 of those aren't counted because they don't meet the requirements. So we have 800 teams determining the 0.5% which would be 4 teams actually receiving the end of season rewards.

Ok so we have:

Team 1 - Eligible - Merciless Gladiator
Team 2 - Ineligible - N/A
Team 3 - Ineligible - N/A
Team 4 - Eligible - Gladiator
Team 5 - Eligible - Gladiator
Team 6 - Eligible - Gladiator
Team 7 - Didn't make the cutoff

It works exactly how you think it would. The teams aren't counted for the 0.5% calculation, and they can't receive the rewards if they aren't counted. aka They're ignored if they don't meet the qualifications.
