Ridiculous "new launcher"
by Greenshanker | 05/08/2010 08:05:47![]() I get on the beta to have my game download a small patch. OK, no big deal. It installs and the game re-launches. Then I get an error "validating game version". OK, odd. I come to forums and find out I have to delete my already huge-to-install beta and reinstall! From what I understand I have to get a new launcher that downloads 15 gigs worth of data in a streamed fashion. I could play while it streams, but that's prohibitive for me because any download would cause me to go into major lagdom. I'm grandfathered-in unlimited with Sprint Mobile Broadband (3G internet) and while I may have no 5 gig cap I get an angry phone call if I go over about 20 gigs. I have it because I'm out in the sticks, not by choice, and can't get anything else. If I am forced to fully reinstall the beta, 15 gigabytes, I am effectively OUT of the beta. Why in the hell would you do this, Blizzard? Bad timing in the midst of so many ISP's, not just mobile ones, that push ridiculous caps on their customers. I was really enjoying this Goblin but if I want to continue playing the content that I already do have on my system, I have to erase it and get it again. Yes, there is a patch besides what I had, but I doubt that it was anything over a gig! Please, please tell me that I'm wrong and there's some other method that I can fix this. My beta is at version 12644. |

We appreciate those who help us in the beta test process by sometimes taking rather tedious or inconvenient steps to ensure the release of any new feature is as successful as possible. :) Where all my honey gone? Pooh bear be cryin'... |

I completely understand why that is frustrating KD3, however, sometimes beta testing isn't for everyone. If helping us in the testing process -- to ensure any new feature functions more smoothly for the rest of the playerbase -- is a financial burden on you, there are plenty of other folks out there willing to help us improve things by accepting the occasional inconvenience of our iteration process for any substantial change.
