Should I not watch it? I don't want to be spoiled since the game is this close from release.

I definitely recommend you watch it. Without spoiling the story line for Wings of Liberty, it'll give you a good sense of what you're in for and how StarCraft II will continue the epic saga from StarCraft and Brood War. A good portion of the trailer actually reflects back on the conflicts from the previous titles in this franchise, so it's fantastic for perspective.

You want this. You need this. :)

Q u o t e:
Aren't you at all concerned that new players will see these trailers and be completely misled on what kind of game it is?

For me, the whole disconnect between EPIC CINEMATICS and RTS gameplay (to be fair, I felt the same in RPG games like Xenosaga) makes the game's whole schtick feel disjointed. It's almost like I'd rather just watch the cinematics separately and play an actual game when I'm gaming. Instead, we all "ooo and ahhh" over cinematics that, literally, have nothing to do with a game. Just the story, which while fine and all, is not some OMG EPIC that warrants some "10 years in the making!!" hype, and it seems like the marketing being done for the game has literally made the actual GAME an afterthought.

Don't get me wrong, I really, really hope SC fans are overwhelmed and overjoyed with the game. But I also worry about a possible "Extreme-More than Words" situation where people buy the product (game or album in this situation) and feel misled and a bit peeved about what the overall product actually is versus what they were expecting.

For players who are less accustomed to RTS gameplay, having a choice in difficulty level will go a long way in the StarCraft II single-player campaign. Also, the missions are extremely story-driven and relate perfectly to this trailer. You'll find each mission has a very distinct set of objectives which will drive the story further for players, especially as they reach each cut scene in between missions.

I'm not an incredibly talented RTS player, but when I got to test the campaign, I did so on an easy setting. It was extremely fun, didn't get me flustered with micro management, and felt epic. :)
