Reason for an "automated" Ban
by Onariz | 07/05/2010 20:16:54![]() I recently received a notice that one of my accounts got a 72 ban with no clarification of reason beyond exchanging real life currency for in-game items. Now presumably this does not apply to the items that I purchased through the Blizzard store and the only thing that customer service could tell me was that it did not appear that my account had been compromised. This leads me to believe that it was something that I did. The only activity I can think of that could possibly be interpreted this way, apart from the purchases from the Blizzard store, would be the consolidation of all my toons craft items from several accounts onto a single account. The account that was banned would have received 100s of items from other different accounts as I had just setup that toon to store everything in a guild bank and sell whatever was just junk. My question is does this seem like something that would trigger an automated ban? Currently I am basically left unable to play as I have no idea what action triggered the ban and as I have found nothing suspicious on my computer this only means that I have not found anything rather than that it is clean. Any insights to this would be valuable. |

I may be in a position to provide further insight, if you can furnish me the name and realm of a character on the affected account. “No snowflake in an avalanche ever feels responsible.” - Voltaire |

I had a chance to give your case a once over, and this may be related to suspicious activities that have occurred on your account. It is unlikely that account compromise is a culprit in this scenario. If you believe that this account action was applied in error, then your only recourse is to send an email to wowaccountadmin@blizzard.com to discuss the matter further. “No snowflake in an avalanche ever feels responsible.” - Voltaire |

It can take some time - up to two weeks is not unheard of. More recently a few days would not be untoward, though each case is individual and that's an extremely rough estimate. I do wish you luck though. [ Post edited by Malkorix ] “No snowflake in an avalanche ever feels responsible.” - Voltaire |
