I recently upgraded my macbook to 4GB RAM with high hopes i could run through dal easily. It seemed to be successful but new problems emerged. My laptop seems to be overheating/overrunning and having major lag spikes (up to 5k + lat). The problem only occurs when running WoW ( assume its because of the CPU usage). Is is possible that too much RAM for this laptop could be causing the comp to run too fast ? and are there any possible solutions (other than taking out the RAM)?

When you installed the RAM did you reset PRAM to make the logic board see the new RAM correctly ?

Reset PRAM:

(Note: in order for this procedure to work the sound must be working normally and not muted)

1. (re)start the computer
2. right after the initial system chime press Opt+command (Apple)+p+r
3. hold these keys down until you get two more chimes
4. let go of the keys and let the system boot up naturally (do not press any keys)

( If sound is not an option: press the keys stated above right after the (re)start,
and instead of listening for the 2 chimes, the screen will flash white 2 times.)

Also test the RAM to make sure it's working correctly (quick test):

1. find your Apple Hardware Test disk (might be included with the Mac OS install disk) that came with your Mac*
2. put in the DVD-rom drive
3. (re)start your Mac while pressing d, until the AHT launches
4. run the Extended test

* For Intel-based Apple computers shipping with Mac OS X v10.5.4 or earlier, Apple Hardware Test is located on the Mac OS X Install Disc 1 and should be included with your computer.
* For Intel-based Apple computers shipping with Mac OS X v10.5.5 or later, Apple Hardware Test is located on the Applications Install Disc 2 and should be included with your computer.
