Andraleigh,

Can you tell us more information about your computer? You can find most of the information if you go to Start -> Run -> type dxdiag and press Enter. (Windows Vista: Press the Windows Key (the key with the Windows logo on your keyboard) + R (at the same time). Type in DXDIAG and press Enter or click 'OK', this will open the DirectX diagnostic tool.)

I'll need the following info:
System tab
Operating system:
Processor:
Memory:
DirectX Version:

Display tab
Name:
Version:
Date:
DDI Version:

Thanks Andrealeigh,

Try to set WoW to run in Software Transform and Lighting mode. This mode uses a different method to display graphics which tests the Direct3D on the system. This will put WoW in an unsupported state as WoW does require Direct3D; however for testing purposes it is a valuable step.

  • Right-click on the shortcut you use to start WoW and select "Properties"
  • You should see a target line in the new window that is already highlighted.
  • Add -swtnl to the end of what is already there, be sure that there is a space between the hyphen and the end-quote and that there is a space.

It should look similar to this:
    "C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\Launcher.exe" -swtnl

Let me know how this works for you.
