I am engaged in debate with some fellow guild members, basically some think only new quests help progression and I am a believer that all the dailies contribute.

The Crystal wards have moved to the forward base, that has been my only supporting argument I can think of, wowwiki seems to say that the old quests a defunct and replaced with lesser versions of themselves for dailies only.

A blue response would be awesome, but I was wondering what the general consensus was on the subject?

The NPC's that provide updates on your current percentage towards a goal are the quest givers for the dailies that actually work towards that objective. All other dailies continue to function towards reputation and rewards/gold, however.

So right now you probably have the two that work towards taking the armory, and one in Shattrath for opening the portal. That's going to vary from realm to realm though of course.

Correct, but I don't see why you'd pass up all the other quests while you're in the area.
