Performance: Macs with 9400M

I'm fairly new to the Mac world, I've been running OS X 10.5 as a dual boot with Windows on my PC for a while, but I never actually bought a Mac until just a few months ago. Now I know the 9400M is nothing compared to whats standard in most laptops at that price range, but I'm getting very erratic performance with this computer playing WoW. In a low populated zone, I can get 40-60fps even if graphic effects are set to Ultra. If I go to Dalaran I get very choppy almost unplayable performance, 5-10fps and many pauses that last for several seconds long, even with the graphics settings set all the way to the Lowest setting.

I wasn't expecting stellar performance from a laptop with a 9400M, but I read heard from a lot of people that WoW was playable with the right settings... I'm finding this not to be true. Anyway just looking for some help with this one.

Specs:
OS X 10.6.1
13" MacBook Pro (Late 2009 Model)
2.26 Core2Duo
2GB DDR3 1066Mhz
160GB HD (31GB free space)
9400M Graphics Chip 256MB Shared RAM

I do plan to upgrade to 4GB RAM I just haven't done it yet. Even if this is a RAM issue, I would still expect the game to be playable with 2GB.

Things I've tried:
Deleteing Cache Folder
Disabling All Addons
Closing All Other Applications Except WoW
Repairing Permissions
Adjust Graphics From Highest To Lowest
