Hello Everyone,

Mac OS 10.3.9, which came out on April 15, 2005, officially will no longer work with the game, upon trying to connect you will get a message: "Unable to connect".

We stopped supporting Mac OS 10.3.9 since the release of the Wrath of the Lich King, which came out on November 13, 2008. And 10.3.9's core system limitations have made it impossible to allow us to update our game, so it was time to let the old Mac OS retire.

If you are still using Mac OS 10.3.9 here's some info about the Mac OS that came after wards, Mac OS 10.4.x:

No matter how simple the ??? seem, we were all nbs at one time.

Unfortunately 10.3.9 has not been a supported OS since the release of Wrath of the Lich King.

Hello Everyone,

Just adding my 2¢ into the mix since I dropped the news on you all and ran out the door, hehe.

About 4 to 5 months ago I could go on eBay and get the Mac OS 10.4 install CD for about $8, now I can't find anything under $129, so I guess the sellers are soaking this dropping of 10.3.9 as much as they can. Not good if you were procrastinating about updating your Mac OS.

I also love playing the Civilization games, but the Macs that I have that can still play WoW, decently, can't play the latest Civilization IV game, or other games for that matter. The thing is, WoW plays on Macs that other games won't even install onto, so it's been pretty interesting that the game even played on Mac OS 10.3.9 for this long. But it's soooo much better on my iMac 24".

Macs are not cheap computers, trust me, I know this well enough. Having kept an old Mac for over 8 years due to financial issues, I learned one thing, if I don't upgrade eventually, I will be left behind. That also goes with real life, like languages, look at Latin, and transportation, look I know you like your car and all but having a top speed limit of 40 mph is starting to make the other people driving on the highway a bit irate, hehe.

As far as Mac OS 10.4.11 eventually not being supported or allowing the game to connect, I think it will be a while. The core of the Mac OS hasn't changed as significantly from 10.4 to 10.5 to 10.6 as much as it did from 10.3 to 10.4, but we'll see what 10.7 offers.

So saying all that, I can easily say I understand the financial need to keep your old Mac running the old system, but I also understand the need to keep the game fresh and exciting, eventually progress will win, but it can be painful for those that can't. Well at least men don't have to wear those white wigs anymore, unless they want to, of course.
