by Mendoza | 15/04/2008 13:18:38![]() Thats right. Pre-2008 Mac Pro Owners can now get 8800GT for their machines... http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/wa/RSL I just ordered one... I think they have just added this too. |

by Tigerclaw | 19/04/2008 00:52:52![]() My understanding from all parties involved is that Leopard is required. While Apple has shipped one machine with NV G8x class graphics using Tiger - the first MacBookPro's that had an NV8600 chip - that's a somewhat specialized version of Tiger which is not installed on the tower systems - a bit of a one-off. Worst thing that will happen is that it will just boot up to a blank screen if there is no matching driver on your Tiger system. |
by Tigerclaw | 22/04/2008 10:21:02![]() "maxed" settings may not get the best results. I would start with default settings and then experiment. Leave full screen glow and multisampling disabled for starters. We have some tweaks in 2.4.2 that may also bring up performance a bit. But just to be sure, would you please post a) which video port your display is attached to on the back of the card(try 1 instead of 2 and viceversa ) b) OS version c) did you attach the internal aux power cable d) which slot is the card in. |
by Tigerclaw | 22/04/2008 16:39:06![]() Can you clarify if you tried it at default settings yet, and also where it is that you are measuring the FPS number. |
by Tigerclaw | 23/04/2008 17:09:05![]() I remember this one time I was getting 200 FPS, and then the next day I was only getting 40. Then I remembered that I wasn't even in the same place each time. Moral of the story: useful FPS reports are taken consistently at the same location, or at least include some description of location and facing. |
