One of our goals for the new Battle.net is to create the framework for an online gaming experience that is even more accessible, more engaging, and more entertaining than the previous Battle.net. Our new Real ID feature is an integral part of this effort, providing you with advanced ways for forming and maintaining meaningful relationships with your friends on the service.

Real ID is a completely voluntary and optional level of identity that keeps players connected across all of Battle.net. When you and a friend mutually agree to become Real ID friends, you'll have access to a number of additional features that will enrich your social gaming experience in new and exciting ways.

Again, this service is entirely optional, and you can opt-out of the additional features by simply refraining from adding another player as a Real ID friend. Parents can also limit their child's access to Real ID through the Parental Controls panel found in Battle.net Account Management: http://us.battle.net/parents

We believe that real-world priorities such as homework, chores, and family dinner should take precedence over entertainment. Our Parental Controls now provide parents and guardians with easy-to-use tools to set up rules for World of Warcraft play time and socializing that fit your family’s situation. These tools include: daily/weekly play-time limits, custom play schedules, weekly play-time reports, voice chat management, and Real ID management.

We have found that most players using the Dungeon Finder don’t use the Vote Kick feature or abandon groups very often. For these players, we have removed the cooldown on voting to kick players from a dungeon party. In contrast, those players who tend to kick players or abandon groups more frequently will notice that the Vote Kick features maintains its cooldown. The goal here is to make sure players who are generally patient can make use of the Vote Kick feature when they really need it, without giving a more powerful tool to those who try to kick others or abandon dungeon groups very frequently.

This functionality will adjust itself as a player’s behavior changes while using the Dungeon Finder.
