The starting blizzard downloader finished in no time at all, but that second window that has all the patch information on it won't start, it blinks the words "waiting for files to close..." and doesnt finish the patch. I shut down all programs and messengers, etc. Shut off all applications, but none of it has worked.

Am I doing something wrong?

Try hitting Control+Alt+Delete on your computer. Make sure none of these are running in the Processes tab:

WoW.exe
Launcher.exe
BackgroundDownloader.exe

If any of those are running, try ending the task. The patch should continue afterwards.

The patcher won't run when one of those are open. Try rebooting the computer and open the World of Warcraft folder. Look for "WoW-2.0.8.6403-to-2.0.10.6448-enUS-patch.exe" and double-click it. See if that will ptch it.
