Need help, a bit of a long story (drivers)
by Priere | 29/04/2010 18:11:22![]() Alright, so I made a post here about not being able to log into WoW. Post is here... http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=2440185 ...for reference. That said, and as a bit of a recap, I wiped my computer because of a virus, which was my first time doing it alone, and was able to play WoW before the wipe no problem. The hardware hasn't changed and when I type "dxdiag" in the run prompt and I go to the "display" tab, it says in the notes section that "the system is using the generic video driver. Please install video driver provided by the hardware manufacturer." Well, then I went to dell.com to try and get the drivers, since the ATI card came with the package, but whenever I try to download a different driver they come up as, "DellDriverManager.application" no matter which different driver I download. If I try downloading an entirely different driver down the list, it just comes up as "DellDriverManager(2).application". Also, when I try to open any of these files Dell Driver Download Manager says, "There are no files to download. Please go to Drivers and Downloads to select file(s)." I noticed that it was looking for the drivers in the "My Documents" folder, and the files get saved to Firefox's downloads folder, which is still in My Documents, but even still, so I tried putting the driver application files directly into "My Documents" and I get the same problem. Any ideas? :( [Edit]: English is hard in the morning. [ Post edited by Priere ] |
