Naming Policy?
by Tasida | 11/05/2010 05:52:54![]() Blizzard Entertainment has published an official naming policy, which can be found here: http://us.blizzard.com/support/article.xml?locale=en_US&articleId= What's the deal with this? Is this policy being enforced? Or not? I recently posted a ticket regarding a name that (I felt) was a clear violation of several of the clauses, including Real World Reference, Partial or Complete Sentence and "Leet" or "Dude" speak. I was told that the decision had been made to NOT change this name. What the .... "heck" ... is the point of the policy then? I'm honestly a little baffled as to why I should even bother to try to report anything if such a clear violation (to my mind) is going to be ignored. Clarify your stance. Either enforce your existing policy, or stop pretending your have one. "...and this, too, shall pass away..." |

Guideline is not an inappropriate choice of words, actually. It is ultimately at our discretion whether a given name will be changed in a given circumstance, and our enforcement of potential naming violations differs between RP and standard realms. We recognize that, rationally, there is a substantial difference in 'culture' between the realm types, and to an extent, we've allowed our players to shape their own experience. I can certainly recognize why this might have been a bit frustrating, and we've been investigating the possibility of updating this policy to provide greater clarity. Leaving aside our policies completely: For my own edification, may I ask why you personally found this name so upsetting?
