OK, Trying to Be calm, cool and collective here....But Who am I kidding? WTF!!!!
On April 4th at appoximately 1PM EST, I attempt to log into a game that I have grown quite fond of in the past few months. To my surprise I find that my password is invalid? I go to the Account Management webpage and again my password is invalid? I do the whole password recovery thing and finally able to log in. I Find that I HAVE BEEN ROBBED!! Immediately I open a ticket and speak to a GM about this. I answer all his questions and give him all information I can. He/She Instructs me that an Investigation will be done and that most likely everything will be restored as best as possible. I let a sigh of relief and logg off. I found a few spybots that may have been the thing that allowed my account to be hijacked. I went ahead and deleted all cookies, temp files, and the 2 Addons I Had..(Auctioneer and WowReader) I change the password to my email and then check my email and find an email from Blizzard stating the following:
Q u o t e: This is a notification regarding your World of Warcraft account. Access to this account has been permanently disabled for exploitation of the World of Warcraft economy or for being associated to accounts which have been closed for intended exploitation. While we try to be as lenient as possible in our assessments of the results of exploitation investigations, exploitative endeavors on your account have ultimately lead to its closure. The recurring subscription on the account has been disabled to prevent further charges.
The actions detailed above have been deemed inappropriate for World of Warcraft by the Support staff of Blizzard Entertainment. Please review the World of Warcraft Terms of Use at http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/legal/termsofuse.html which state that your Password is to be kept confidential at all times and you are solely responsible for the security of your Password. You may not disclose your Password to anyone, or allow your Password to be used by anyone other than yourself and/or your one (1) minor child. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your Password, and you will be responsible for all uses of your Password, whether or not authorized by you. Also, note that the security of the Account is your responsibility. Furthermore, Blizzard Entertainment does not recognize the transfer of Accounts, and any unauthorized transfer of the World of Warcraft software (as set forth on the worldofwarcraft.com website) will result in the permanent deletion of the Account attached to that software. As such, this World of Warcraft account has now been closed by the Account Administration staff based on review of the above account infraction incurred. This action has been taken in accordance with the Terms of Use (http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/legal/termsofuse.html) and our game policies (http://www.blizzard.com/support/wowgm/?id=agm01712p). The recurring subscription on the account has been disabled to prevent further charges.
Lastly, according to the World of Warcraft Terms of Use, to which all players agree when installing World of Warcraft, Section 5. [Rules of Conduct], Paragraph C [Rules Related to Game Play] states that you may not do anything that Blizzard Entertainment considers contrary to the "essence" of World of Warcraft. This entails access to another World of Warcraft account, including, but not limited to, the deletion of items/characters and redistribution of in-game currency or possessions. The bottom line is that we want World of Warcraft to be a fun and safe environment for all players. Game Play] states that you may not do anything that Blizzard Entertainment considers contrary to the "essence" of World of Warcraft.
Thank you for your time and understanding of our position in this matter. Please feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns you may have.

WHAT!!!!! I have been victimized and on top of it I am Punished for IT? Its like having your car stolen and reporting it only to have the police issue you speeding tickets and moving violations for the car thiefs actions!!
My reply to this very upsetting Email was:
Q u o t e: Well please let me start off by saying...WHAT??!!!! I attempted to log into my account this morning and found out that mysteriously my password was invalid. I then attempted to log into Account Management at https://www.worldofwarcraft.com and again my password was invalid. I was not quite sure what was going on but I proceeded to use the password retrieval system and succesfully changed my password. I went on to log into the game and upon seeing the "character listing" screen, I knew something was wrong because my lvl 65 Dwarf Hunter named Boozenator was totally stripped of armor and weapons. I proceeded to select Boozenator and access the game. Upon accesing the game I was highly shocked to see my armor and weapons where indeed gone. I checked my UI bar and found that my Netherweave Bags where gone and upon opening my Backpack I saw that my 450G+ was also gone!! I immediatly went to https://www.worldofwarcraft.com and found the support page for compromised accounts. I contacted an In-Game GM by the name of:
Linbane Game Master Blizzard Entertainment www.worldofwarcraft.com
After answering his/her questions and giveing him/her any details that I could think of I was told that an investigation would ensue and that Blizzard was aware of recent Account Hackings.
What I do not understand is, WHY AM I BEING PUNISHED for being a victim of someones malicous sceme? I have never been involved in any activity that could be seen as a detriment to this game. I have always carried my characters reputation with respect as I carry my own reputation in Real Life!! I have tried to read the below attached email that tells me my account has been deleted, but I just don't see anything in it that would help me understand. Why does the victim get punished? Does Blizzard not have the ability to see where accounts are logged in from? Clearly whatever happened overnight was not done from my computer and clearly without my knowledge. Nobody in my household has access to my computer and I have never given out my password to anyone!! I have ran Norton Anti-Virus and Trend Micro's Housecall scan and found a few spybots that may have been the thing that allowed my account to be hijacked.
In return I get some Cookie-Cutter Reply that my email has been recieved telling me it may be a couple days for them to even Respond? WHAT KIND OF SICK, TWISTED VERSION OF CUSTOMER SERVICE IS THIS?????? |
