I'm on a college campus, trying to download WoW. At first I tried just using the downloader on battle.net, but it would just stop downloading at about 53% everytime, due my schools firewall.

To get around this I used my vanilla and BC cd's which I still had, downloaded them, and then used mirror patches on macgamefiles to patch it all the way. So now that thats all set, when I try to go to the characters screen, the game says that i have a WoTLK level account, and that I need to download WoTLK to play.

So now I have BC, and am patched all the way, and am just missing the WoTLK files. I already payed for it on my account a long time ago, but I can't use the battle.net downloader because Im on a college campus.

Is there a mac mirror for the WoTLK files that can be used, or am I just screwed at this point?

There is no mirror for the game installer, but since you can get to 53% the download is not being blocked, but rather having issues replacing your old data. Delete the original WoW and BC. The WotLK installer installs all 3 versions of the game in one take...

In order to remove World of Warcraft safely from your system, please do the following:

1. go to your Macintosh HD => Applications folder (or wherever you saved the game) and move your World of Warcraft to the Trash
2. go to your Macintosh HD => Users => Shared folder and move the Blizzard folder to the Trash
3. go to your Macintosh HD => Users => your account => Library => Preferences and delete any files associated with WOW:
(some files may not appear due to non-use)

- com.blizzard.downloader.plist
- com.blizzard.Downloader.prefs
- com.blizzard.errorreporter.plist
- com.blizzard.Installer.plist
- com.blizzard.launcher.plist
- com.blizzard.World of Warcraft.prefs
- com.blizzard.World of Warcraft.survey.prefs

4. empty Trash


To reinstall the game, please do the following:

5. Install the Wrath of the Lich King from the DVD or downloaded installer, which will install the original World of Warcraft, Burning Crusade and the Wrath of the Lich King in one take.
6. patch to the latest version of the game

This means that the data is corrupted or incomplete. You should talk to your school's IT techs and see if you have a limited download ability. Also if you are using a wireless connection I would suggest using a wired connection instead, since wireless can easily be affected by environmental factors.


Side Note: GM's are Game Masters who work in the game. On a tech forums only Computer Technicians and Game Developers post in blue. Also if we were Windows biased why would we make a specific forum for Mac players ?
