Steady Shot was introduced to allow hunters to do low maintenance steady dps. Kill Command to help them sustain it
Rank 1 Steady is 110 mana
Rank 2 Steady is 220 a 100% increase in mana cost

Rank 1 Kill Command is 75 mana
Rank 2 KC is 145 a 93% increase

i have gained about 300 mana in 2 levels up to 7300, with viper on at all times I can still go OOM in record time even while farming. Considering the very small damage increase (120 in the case of Steady Shot and 73 in the case of Kill Command) the mana cost should in no way be doubled. It doesn't even fit with the cost increase per rank of other abilities.

Rank 1 steady shot can be fired 63 times with 7k mana
Rank 2 can only be fired 31 times

So our dps time is cut in half pretty much by going from rank 1 to rank 2 with only a 110 damage(mitigated by armor) increase?

Unless the amount of mana per point of int is drastically increased we will be at a severe disadvantage in the future considering the change to potions and the fact that in BC chain potting Fel Mana potions is the only way to truly sustain a heavy dps rotation.

We need serious innate mana regen work (NOT another Viper change), or an increase in mana per point of int (NOT an increase in intellect on gear)

EDIT: The scaling seems to be normal from ranks 2 to 3, but the mana cost doubled from rank 1 to 2
seems like a miscalculation (least that's what I'm hoping)

The mana cost of new ranks is not just an issue for Hunters. We're looking at lowering the mana cost of all new ranks among all classes. We also intend to do some improvements to Aspect of the Viper. Not to mention mana return mechanics in each of the tree's (Invigoration, Rapid Recuperation, Hunting Party etc.)
