Mac Disconnection During Loading Screens

Hello,

I'm using a MacBook and running OS 10.4.11. I'm having trouble disconnecting whenever I go through a loading screen. Whenever I disconnect in this way, I have to exit the game from windowed mode and restart my computer in order to regain my internet connection. My wife also plays at the same time, but she's not having any trouble with this.

I saw on the forums that I should try flushing my DNS cache. I've tried that and it helps significantly for a few days. Then I'm back to the old problem. The longer I go between flushes, the worse it gets.

I've called Blizzard Tech Support and at their recommendation I've upgraded from a Belkin wireless router to a Netgear switch. This did not improve performance or fix the issue.

On my second call to Blizzard tech support, I was told that I needed to specify a DNS server from my ISP. My ISP is AT&T. On their website, ATT.COM, I found the following page: http://www.att.com/esupport/article.jsp?sid=KB402035

On this page, step 4 reads as follows:

Review the current DNS server information. If the boxes for DNS Servers and Search Domains are empty, you do not need to update your DNS settings. Otherwise, please continue.

When I checked my current DNS server information, the boxes were empty.

So I plugged the numbers in to my DNS Server box, on the Network screen. I've also just flushed my DNS cache. So far so good... I will update as things occur.

Greetings, Boaz

Disconnections of this type lead me to think there may be something wonky with your modem since you've eliminated the router from the equation. What is the brand/model of your modem? Do you have the option to test on a different network entirely?

All knowledge is worth having.

Hello Boaz,

Delete your Cache Æ’older, inside the World of Warcraft Æ’older, old temp files might not be syncing and also the folder gets filled up after a while.

Also do you shutdown your Mac at night or just put it to sleep ? Our game leaks memory (RAM) and if the memory (RAM) isn't reset after a while it's going to run like ( enter some bizarre analogy here - can't think of a good one, need to reset my brain : )

If you put it to sleep, reset your memory and test further...

Reset PRAM:

(Note: in order for this procedure to work the sound must be working normally and not muted)

1. (re)start the computer
2. right after the initial system chime press Opt+command (Apple)+p+r
3. hold these keys down until you get two more chimes
4. let go of the keys and let the system boot up naturally (do not press any keys)

( If sound is not an option: press the keys stated above right after the (re)start,
and instead of listening for the 2 chimes, the screen will flash white 2 times.)

No matter how simple the ??? seem, we were all nbs at one time.
Grab your free Apple mount here !!! (okay I lied, it's a survey)
