Lots of unhappy rogues

I hate to sound like I'm trying to put a silver lining on your cloud, but it's easy to get the impression that everyone is unhappy when you read the forums. The reason for this is simply that those that feel there is an issue or problem, tend to post more than those that are satisfied. This can lead to the perception that no one is happy. I know many people that are very happy with their classes or at the very least just enjoying them as they are. Can there be room for improvement? Always. Will there continue to be improvements? Yes. Wherever we can do so in a way that balances with the rest of the game. |

I think there are waves. What happens is that as an issue or concern is brought up on a forum and picks up momentum, it can be carried on to guild forums or fan site forums and then filter out to friends of friends of friends and then can come right back to the forums to add on. I've seen it happen where someone who was happy wasn't so happy after they were told they shouldn't be happy and why. While sometimes this can lead to a real/legitimate concern, there are many times it can be something blown out of proportion. This is something we (The Community Team) work hard to try to filter out; the deeper concerns from the skewed perceptions. It can get pretty muddled at times, but this is why you see us so often asking people to please be as clear and as constructive in their concerns as possible. It helps us discern between the two when we take in information from the forums. |

Please note, I didn't say that most are just bitter rogues. I said, most posting people see on the forums are focused on concerns because those that are happy, don't tend to post much. It's easy to skew the perception of someone that is happy into thinking that perhaps they have been missing something. Sometimes the concerns are legitimate and sometimes they are perhaps legitimate but over exaggerated. |

It's a very educated assumption based on years of experience not only as a gamer, but as a Community Manager. We take a lot of things into consideration beyond just these forums and have to use our experience, knowledge, and even instinct to guide us. |

I'll bring this up again. Like I've said before, the most I can do is carry the information of what the perceptions of the community are at current. We don't always have something to bring back, but we'll do what we can to keep you up to date on what we can. I've been trying to make sure people at least know we're reading. For some, that's enough. For others, they feel it's a waste of time. Either way, we'll keep trying just the same. |

It's the background downloader prepping for 2.3 much like we've done before. It just means we're getting closer. |
