I think a lot of the anxiety comes from lack of communication. When they tell us about something really cool they never give us a when. When they post on our threads they hardly ever answer any significant questions we have. Almost every answer we get is shrouded or accompanied by soon.

Seems here lately they only take part in joke threads or ones that have a valid point that could hurt their image. I mean the guy has a valid point from a hardcore raiders perspective that is.

I think a lot of these threads would sound different if they kept us in the loop better. Yet they need stuff to talk about at their convention. I don't even mean a release date. When they announce new stuff hold a QA session on the forums for a short time to answer some concerns.

A lot of people feel they do not care because they do not seem to involved with the community. No answer is better then a shrouded one.

Now i am not saying take time away from the development of the game to be more involved. But there are people who's job it is to be on these forums. Send the info to them and have them talk with us about it. Set up a video chat session of sorts. There are endless way's for them to get involved with us. It is a choice they make to not to

I posted this in a different thread but i think it sums up a lot. If communication was better from them to us. I think people would be more forgiving about the so called stale content.

This is not meant to bash Blizz or anything. It just really seems like they could care less. The whole we are only allowed to tell certain things is fine. Understand you guys have to have the ok to give out a release date. I think most of us do. But it was Blizzard who stated we would be seeing goblin rogues in pvp by blizzcon this year. That is why people are mad about no release date yet.

But even when blizzard posts about anything they never field questions properly. They post there prepared statement and usually move on. Yet they have time to take out of their busy day to post on joke threads? Really?

Or they post on threads where there is a point that might make them look bad. I mean i have never seen a company go to extremes like Blizzard does to not look bad.

If they took time to keep us better informed the crying would go down a lot. Yet they give us shrouded responses that tell us nothing or soon. It shows a lack of respect for the community that keeps them in business. And that is fact we keep them employed.

It should not take them losing money to get them to listen to us. That is the only reason the realID on the forums went away. Because they were gonna lose money.

Respect is goes two ways. They don't get they start swinging the ban hammer. We don't get it they spin it to look its our fault. Enough is enough.

We can only communicate our plans in so many ways. We are careful and cautious though it's true about giving out too many details when they aren't solidified. We do this for a variety of reasons including understanding that if we give a date, people can and will make plans around that date. When they do and say (heaven forbid) we miss that date, that person is upset that we were unable to give them a reliable date. Sure, you can say it's the fault of that person, but we work very hard to make sure that our information is as accurate as possible and if we have concerns or ideas of how something might change further, we try to leave ourselves that option and let it be known as often as we can.

We've already posted the potential date of the end of the Arena season. That should help some people with some of their plans. If you're looking for a more concrete date for the release of Cataclysm itself, we're not at the point yet where we feel we want to release that. Anything else that's floating out there is speculation until we do so.


*Edit- Also, it's easy to say, "why won't they answer my important question" but you must keep in mind, some things we can't answer, we can't be in every thread at ever moment though we try to read as much as we can, without more information about what it is you need an answer to --we can't answer anything. There are also a lot of answers out there already. There are more answers that we need to do more work to provide because we try to take into account its effect and how much information should go with it to make it as complete as possible. And sometimes, the answer we give just isn't always the one someone wants to hear, but we do what we can.

While for some people being pointed to another thread or saying we can't answer at a certain point in time (which we do often) is enough, for others it's never enough.

As for hiring more people, feel free to peruse our career opportunities page for when Community positions open. Should you or someone you know be a great candidate, we'd love to talk to them. Despite what some may think, hiring into these positions isn't always so simple. Or how it would hurt them in such a way it would destroy the company. You can't cause it won't. It would let people know if they needed to farm hardcore or not. We're currently working on more information to share about this and many other changes to the game. We are also making sure that the information is as accurate as possible and is shared with all of our international communities prior to putting it out publicly. We do our best to not only answer these important questions but do so in an accurate manner that takes into account that we are a global community too and we tend to think globally when it comes to larger pieces of information that impact it. (I caution people replying to this thread to refrain from any nationalistic or hateful comments in regard to this.)

It is not about a release. You tell us to read all the time. So please read the whole OP. Yes some questions can not be answered. Understandable. But there are a lot of them that can. I am not even narrowing it down to cata.

The point is you guys have time for joke threads and threads that might make you look bad. Yet when someone asks a legit question that would in no way hurt you at all. You say nothing. Or you give some shrouded answer that confuses people more.

It is about respect and being better involved with your community.

I understood what you meant. As I said, you may choose to send your feedback to wowcmfeedback@blizzard.com in the future for these sorts of concerns. This is actually the worst place for this feedback since generally, they become flame fests. I chose to answer because I wanted to make it known that we are in fact working on answering many questions that have been brought up, but these things take time.

You may perceive that we are "doing nothing" but I assure you, our days are very very full and we are far more involved with the community than you seem to understand. That's OK though since many of the things we do aren't apparent publicly. What matters to us most isn't getting "kudos" for doing a bang up job (though it sure is nice when we do), it's knowing that we are pushing ourselves to not only do what we can for our company and co-workers, but also to keep doing what we can to provide more to the community in a large variety of ways. Respect is a two way street. We don't demand anything other than people to abide by the Code of Conduct and forum guidelines and post constructively. Those same things apply to every poster on these forums. That means, if you are not being treated by someone else on the forums in a way that abides by those, reporting it will help our moderation team take action to correct it. No report on your end means we can't do anything about it unless we catch it.


We also take part in fun threads (whether you appreciate it or not) because we are a game company, we are a part of the community, and we enjoy getting to do so. That is just as much a part of our jobs as it is to convey information or take in information.

Nope. Sorry. I'd say, "When we're ready" but you already know that, and I think people are starting to ready the rotting tomatoes to throw whenever we use terms like "when it's ready" or "soon". ;)
