Keyloggers soon to be dead?
by Rastov | 05/04/2007 04:12:15![]() Was browsing the news websites this morning and came across the following article: http://www.smh.com.au/news/security/cursor-hackers-penetrate-vistas-de fences/2007/04/04/1175366299799.html And the related microsoft article: http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/Bulletin/MS07-017.mspx So hopefully after installing the patch, keyloggers might be a thing of the past, and no more hacked accounts (until the next vulnerability is found) |
by Drysc | 05/04/2007 04:23:32![]() It was one specific vulnerability that was patched that allowed a simple link/website to automatically install malicious software, and we of course recommend installing all of the latest updates for your OS, especially those marked as critical. Such as the recent Windows update you linked to. The patch released doesn't stop someone from downloading executables and running them without the proper precautions, and you can still be susceptible to keyloggers, viruses, trojans, etc. The update released by Microsoft is a very specific fix for a specific way that a keylogger could end up on a Windows machine, it doesn't protect you from obtaining a keylogger or virus, it merely patches one specific way you could get one. It's important that you be proactive about your computer and its security.
