It's pointless to go to Blizzcon now IMO
by Irhabi | 26/08/2009 05:11:20![]() I really feel that Blizzard has made actually attending BlizzCon almost pointless, and I gotta QQ a bit. At first I was really excited, I mean we paid good money for tickets and flew halfway across the country to attend. Then we don't receive any sort of real perks (in my humble opinion), partially because the information we get to hear first is instantly spread to the internet and people can order the whole thing on Pay Per View anyway. I understand the PPV had problems but the information was all still available. Honestly, I wouldn't care about the above except I found out that all the PPV subscribers are also going to be receiving the exact same "exclusive" pet for sitting at home on their butts and spending 1/10th the money. This is kinda a slap in the face to me, instead of having a 1/26k pet and being one of the few per server, I now have a 1/god knows how many pet. Please tell me this isn't the case. I would really like SOMETHING in game that says "hey I went to blizzcon" and didn't order the PPV. We got no beta access to anything, which in and of itself is not that big a deal...but to add insult to injury they announce that they're giving out 1000 SC2 betas to be randomly distributed to Blizzcon attendees and all the PPV subscribers. Wut? Why am I here? So pretty much people that went to Blizzcon got to spend a @#$% ton of money for a Raynor noob which might make 50 bucks on Ebay and a little bit of testing the games ahead of time. Awesome. I should have just stayed home and got the PPV apparently. And Ozzy Osbourne, cmon...I'm really not trying to be rude but I'm 100% sure this was to please the executives at Blizzard, because it's sure not in touch with their player base at all. I'm an older gamer and Ozzy is still before my time. The only cool thing about it was watching him spray foam all over geeks and spit the f bomb every other word. One thing is for sure, I most certainly will never attend Blizzcon again. Tickets are too expensive, flights are too expensive, hotels are too expensive, food is too expensive, perks are too few. And for those of you that are going to say "be lucky you got to go to Blizzcon, save the tickets for people that wanna be there" etc, just save it, because you weren't there and you couldn't feel the disappointment in the air. And you probably didn't hear 20k people booing the CEO. [ Post edited by Irhabi ] |

I think you missunderstand what exactly BlizzCon is and why we've hosted four of them. BlizzCon is a community event. It's a place for fans of our games to meet up with each other, as well as meet many of the people behind Blizzard. All that you see there, such as Ozzy, the game stations, the contests, the tournaments and panels are there to enhance the experience. You must remember though, BlizzCon is created for all of our fans because we want to show our appreciation to them, and not everyone is able to attend. As a result, we do our best to allow those who couldn't make it a way to experience as many aspects of the show as possible. The pet was a gift to you and all of those people, one which we hope all of you enjoy. I'm sorry it's a little less exclusive, but that wasn't the point. As far as disapointment in there air, I spoke with hundreds upon hundreds of people and observed thousands more at both BlizzCon and the after parties. Most people had nothing short of a really awesome weekend. I'm sorry you didn't but honestly, I just get the feeling from reading your post that this just isn't "your thing". |

/hug I gave some out at BlizzCon too. If you didn't get one, sorry! I'll say it again here, it is our great pleasure and honor to get to have this event with you all. We do our best to make as many people as possible happy and we work hard to make this all come together. If you were disappointed at all, just know it wasn't for lack off effort on our end. And if you have constructive feedback on how we can improve for the next BlizzCon, there is a thread at the top of the forum that we have created specifically for this. We're always looking for ways to improve an we think we have been every year. We don't plan on stopping now.
