Join our Community Team going behind the scenes to experience the world of Blizzard game making in the first installment of our new Blizzard Podcast: BlizzCast.

In each episode we'll be interviewing your favorite Blizzard developers and staff, giving you a glimpse of what it's like from their perspective to make the games you love.

To kick off our BlizzCast series, we've decided to begin where every great Blizzard idea begins, at the concept level. To speak with us we have Samwise Didier, our Art Director and concept artist for many of the popular Blizzard icons you've grown to love, such as the Pandaren, Fel Orcs, Dark Templars, Zerglings, and many more. We'll be chatting with Samwise on how he came up with the characters he did, as well as what it is like to work on both the Warcraft and StarCraft franchises.

Q u o t e:
That was rather disappointing I am sorry to say. We got almost nothing new out of that as the Sunwell info was given in a foreign magazine article 3 weeks ago except for the quality of loot in the 5 man which was unsubstantial. We got no info on the upcoming class changes or other things in 2.4 and if this podcast was done any time recently (which you can tell it wasn't since the raid check change Kaplan brings up was in 2.3.2) then 2.4 won't be on the PTR any time soon. And there was nothing at all about WotLK.

I am sorry but I just expected more : / This was hyped up to be some great thing that would give us a ton of info on WotLK and 2.4 and in the end we got almost nothing.

Thanks for the feedback! I am sorry if it didn't meet expectations of new exclusive information, we are working to get information and get it out quickly. It was a first run, and there were more than a few bumps that really lead to delays and changes. Not a big deal though in the end, we're committed to providing something that's fun and interesting to listen to, and we're hoping to gather and read constructive feedback sent to BlizzCast@Blizzard.com

Also, to our credit, we'll be able to pump these out a little quicker in the future so there won't be such a gap between information releases and the BlizzCast episodes if they do contain some tidbits.

Q u o t e:
Next time, can you kill the music in the background? It makes it almost impossible for me to hear what they're saying at certain points.

We had some mixed feedback during production on the music volume, but we're definitely going to tone it down for future episodes.

Q u o t e:
I seriously expected a lot of info about the 2.4 patch other than about sunwell. I was under the impression that class balancing for PvP would be talked about and there was absolutely nothing on it. You know, thank you for the attempt. But there is a large amount of people that do nothing but PvP and 2.4 is going to be a very important patch for us and some info would have been very very very very very very nice. But as is there was really no new info other than loot levels for sunwell and more daily quests to grind out.

The interview is with Jeff, and while he's involved in a lot of the higher level design he does focus on raid and dungeon design. It really wouldn't make sense to start talking to him about class balance and PvP.

Q u o t e:
Next time give us class information...thats what alot of us care about.

Possible, but probably not very likely.

Thoughts:
- Good
- Stop referercing pictures we can't see (it is a podcast, I mean seriously)
- Music is too loud and distracting... I love music, and you can make great use of it but when you're driving it is almost impossible to listen to this
- This would be a great time to answer fan based questions that people want answers to (e.g. Like the Q&A at Blizzcon)
- The entire thing seems over-produced... Like it has been copied, edited, re-recorded, and such to get everything "perfect" and there is no humanity left in the people you interview (no doubt because they just said it for the 50th time)

Thanks again for the feedback, of course we are asking that you submit it to BlizzCast@Blizzard.com (which enters you in a drawing for some prizes), but thank you nonetheless.

I think I can address most of your concerns though.

The images can be viewed on the transcript/listening page, including new, exclusive to BlizzCast, Sunwell screenshots.

The music is too loud, and we will be toning it down in future episodes.

We're not going to be able to cover every question everyone has, but we're definitely listening to feedback on what you, the listener, want to hear about. This was a good first outing though and we'll hopefully be able to pump them out in a shorter amount of time and keep the information new and interesting.

We do want a high-quality sounding podcast, but I think I understand where you're coming from. I think it'll become more and more relaxed as we all get used to the production process.

Drysc,

I know you have to ask certain questions, but they really could have been phrased better.

Yeah, I think it's a process of refining my interview skills, which I have none of. :) I wasn't working from a script which probably actually would have helped, we're learning. :)
