Im Confused by Blizzards tactics

I understand how its fun to level up to 80, new experience, new instances, zones etc.. But I dont understand why you make all of this end game stuff and then have it be replaced by lvl 80 raids. It doesnt make sense. One of the reasons Diablo 2 was fun was because you could get this uber gear and continually own. We wouldnt have to replace it every year, making all those hours of raiding and grinding arena points seem useless. Honestly with the new level cap being raised to 80 it makes me wants to get my alt to 70 and stop playing until it's released. I dont see how this is gaining customers, especially with the amount of casual gamers playing WoW, who cant put in 2+ hrs a day. Your going to loser customers, people who say oh ill hit 70, stop playing, then when the new xpac comes out ill buy it and grind to 80, only some people will lose the WoW addiction and never come back. Blizzard please tell me, how is it helpful to keep raising the level cap? I would settle for just some more content.... /sign |

Q u o t e: I would settle for just some more content....
We did that for about 2 years, then The Burning Crusade came out, and we've been doing it again for about a year so far, seems it's about time for a change of pace and a real big update again.
Also "resetting" the gear helps even out the playing field which can especially be helpful for new characters (Ex. Deathknights) or people who want to get into raiding. Those who want to be on the bleeding edge will get back to it, but I don't think it hurts anything to do this. No items you get make you permanently great, you need to keep playing to maintain awesomeness.
The game moves forward. |

I won't get into another one of these conversations too much, but the bonus that high-end raiders get is the items they have right now that allow them to be awesome. The gear gets "reset" from time to time, but if they still want to dish out the damage (or heals or tanking as appropriate), they know how to get back to the top and they might even pick up some new players in the process to help their progression.
As for the vanity side of things, there are some good ideas out there for creating diversity in players' looks, but we have no definite plans on changes beyond the hair styles at this time. |

Q u o t e: UTTER FAIL. This is a unreasonable and very unprofessional response. ALL that end game raiding and constant pvping against OP teams and OP classes are unneeded. So people get a bonus from high end raiding then you make some quest in North rend like hey go kill some pigs down the road and give a quest reward that is better then the reward I got from CONSTANTLY raiding for hours for something that WOULD NOT DROP the first 500000000 times. It pains me to see people accept this response. Blizzard you should be ashamed of yourself. The president bush of the gaming industry.
I raided a lot before The Burning Crusade and leveling was much easier for me as I was able to steamroll through a number of levels and zones before I came across items that were a real upgrade.
Q u o t e: Sorry I come from a family of corrupt business men. It irks me bad to see great games like this headed down the same path. Money soon corrupts all. Wow was once great but now those old money hungry bastards see the income that can be made and injected their poison into a once GREAT game. Do not get me wrong I still love the game but it is lacking. If you play WC1-WC3 you can see what this game is missing.
While it takes place in the same universe, World of Warcraft is a very different style of game so while there are a number of similarities, the game play is very different. |

Q u o t e: How about you stop this boss = your level + 3 nonsense so people who hit 70 or 80 can more easily go kick the snot out of the old raids without it being a hassle?
I'm just curious, but what raids have you been attempting? I haven't hit many of the old raid dungeons, but generally you don't need more than 20 people these days, a lot less in some cases. |

Q u o t e: Though it would get silly eventually, let's say level cap eventually raised to 200 so we can fight Sagaras' lost toe-nail, it is to stop raid bosses from being too easially taken down. "Skilled" players could three man Onyxia pre-TBC.
Also keep in mind that some bosses still have a fair amount of money on them, with an Enchanter being present you could turn a pretty profit with few people. |

Q u o t e: See this represents everything I hate about this game. WHO CARES ABOUT GEAR?!
I want to see explore new zones, fight new monsters, craft new weapons, cast new spells, equip new gear (not as a sole focus) and try new gameplay mechanics.
Instead people are clinging to this stupid material focus of the game. It's no wonder it's created such a design issue for hte game. For me the expansion brings all of the above. And since I'll be 10 levels higher, I can go along to previous raids with a smaller group of people and actually see the raids without the stupid requirements and gear focus that currently prohibits me from raiding.
I should be entertained by art and fun. Not by statistical calculations and gear management. If I wanted that I'd load up Microsoft Excel.
Everybody has different things they want and different things they enjoy, hopefully the donut is big enough for everybody to get a bite. |

Q u o t e: Why replace previous gear? Why not simply lower the raid requirements, difficulty, organisational needs and gear management. That way new players (or those lagging behind in terms of progression, which will bet he majority) can very very quickly wrap up their raid progress in Outland before moving onto new content.
That way it doesn't become so redundant. Previous raids are finished, people continue todo them as they still need the tier gear to acces the higher raids.
I'm not entirely sure what you are going for, but having new gear available gives some people a real sense of accomplishment. And if you are falling behind in progression/gear, assuming things are done the same way as The Burning Crusade, when Wrath of the Lich King launches things will be evened out more and you can decide what you want to focus on from there. |

Q u o t e: >_> blizzard just uses us for money, they make new xpack so we stay on this game forever. So they get money Forever. Imo, i don't want a new xpack...You work every day getting attuned then in a couple months, it'd be pointless cause all the greens will be better then the blues from the 70s.
But what if you enjoy the path you take to get every one of those items every time? What is that called? [ Post edited by Bornakk ] |
