How to resume compression of a movie

Hi!

I made a movie of our Sindragosa kill (yay) and first shot at arthas. After we were done, I told the movie to compress.

About 40 mins later, it was at 36% and I forgot and /quit. So WoW quit. Oops.

I relaunched wow and told it to compress but it says there are no movies to compress.

In my WoW/Movies/ folder are the .mov, the wav (706mb) and a ton of .wvd files.

How do I resume this compression or start over?

Hello Stoneblade,

I think the devs have taken your idea, um, borrowed it, yes that's it.
The default keys for movie recording are now CTRL + [ since last patch run.

No matter how simple the ??? seem, we were all nbs at one time.

Hello Vamptessa,

Congrats on the kill as well.

About the compression, once it starts it has to go all the way through, otherwise you have a file that's semi-compressed and semi-raw data. It's all 1's and 0's when you look at it, it just different how a program handles it. So when you open the file a program will start looking at it as compressed but it will crash when it comes up to raw data and it tries to handle it as compressed.

Trying to figure out a decent analogy and this is all I can come up with:

You bake a very long loaf of bread and mid way the fire cuts out. The problem is you can't tell the difference where it stopped cooking. You can't re-bake the loaf because half of it will burn and half will bake normally. Since you have to serve it in one whole piece only, you have to start with a new loaf. - I know, bad analogy. I'll have to come up with something better.
