Holiday quest giver still has !

The Innkeeper in SW still has a quest for me to pick up from the Valentine's Day questline. I had picked it up while it was going on and forgot to do it. So after the event was over, I tried to complete the quest, but the person to turn the quest in is no longer there. So i decided to drop the quest, but now the quest is still there for me to pick up. It is quite annoying while running in SW to run up and see the ! on the mini map. Is there a way to get rid of the quest? Thank you for your help.

Do you remember this NPC name friend? Did you notice if it was a special one, or one that is normally present in that location?

While rare, sometimes holiday events can pop up from time to time. Christmas in July anyone? :).

If this is the case, that NPC really shouldn't be in the world at this time. If you could report that on your server through an ingame petition, we'd be ever so grateful.

Eeep, so he did, how in the world did I completely manage to read over that portion.

Let me check on a couple things.

Edit: Alrighty, this has got to be an interface related issue, I just visited with this fine Innkeep and she doesn't mention nary a word about a Valentine's Day quest.

I'd recommend renaming your WTF, Cache and Interface folders in your WoW directory, rebooting your machine. This will clear out your macros and addons. Sounds like this may have gotten stuck in an addon - perhaps one that manages quests?

I believe that will most likely address this, should it not - please let us know.

Normally - anything that is character specific is an interface issue.

If she truly had that quest to offer still everyone would be seeing it - or at least folks that hadn't done it.

GM characters don't complete quests - we are good at being able to check out that sort of thing :)

I'm beginning to think something creepy's going on here..... some of the NPC's are beginning to think for themselves and do whatever they please!

Naw - I've yet to ever see a 'Help - I'm Being Camped' ticket from an NPC *chuckle*.

I suspect that will be the first sign from them.

He mentioned it was a questline. Having never done the valentine's day quests, by this statement, perhaps it's a chain, and, for whatever reason, he can see the step in the chain? Very odd indeed. Best of luck in resolving this though, I know the feeling of being spammed by exclamation points you don't really care about.

That's possible, however those typically don't show a ! after the event is over. Deleting the quest from the log, and resetting the UI, I'm hoping will resolve this.

Yes the questgiver still has the quest available and it was part of a chain. I tried to complete the quest, but the guy who I am supposed to talk to is part of the holiday event and was taken out after the holiday, but the quest is still available. I would just complete the quest if I could.

Ahhh, perhaps I misunderstood - you did NOT delete that quest from your log? A reset may not be necessary if you haven't tried that step yet.

Unfortunately, holiday type events are for a very specific duration. Once they've gone I'm afraid the opportunity is gone till the next time they roll around. Believe me, I know it's frustrating, of all my toons that completed the orphanage quest - I forgot I hadn't actually turned one in till the day after it ended.

I've just tried this now, and the quest giver is still showing the !. I've not put any addons or macros back in yet.

Have you logged in and out since you abandoned it?

Just tried that again, and while my UI is still untainted, and the quest icon is still there.

And you did the rename WTF, Cache and Interface- reboot thing ? Or did you just disable your addons?

Renamed all three and rebooted (the PC not just the game). Haven't put any of the addons back in.

Interesting. This may be an issue with that specific line Bethenal, but I've not heard of that one. I am sorry for any annoyance this causes. I don't think it should hurt anything - but I can appreciate getting annoyed at the little yellow question mark popping up. Might I impose on you to do a short write up for our bugs forum - just detail all the steps you took so they can try to recreate this?
