Hi, I am new to WOW, and to MAC...
Recently got a Mac Book Pro 15" For uni use... Trying to use it instead of my 4 year old Toshiba Portege Laptop which I would put up with if it didnt sound like an aeroplane was about to take off while I'm playing....

At first when I installed it I got 'the black screen' I changed the power options which seemed to fix that... I installed the Patch... as you do... then now when i click 'Play world of warcraft' It exits and nothing happen... just returns to desktop...

The WOW shortcut on my dock just does nothing either....

Frustrated....

Any help would be great....

Welcome to the Mac Tech forums, the game and I'm sure I can come up with some third thing in a bit : )

Since the game changes and saves some data at the very beginning, somehow it's not able to save that data, so let's try the usual culprit and reset your permissions on the WoW game Æ’older...

1. Select the World of Warcraft folder
2. press Command + i
3. in the World of Warcraft Info box, go to the Sharing & Permissions section
4. click on the lock and unlock it
5. make sure you have Read & Write permissions
6. click on the Burst icon ( cog wheel ) and select Apply to enclosed items**

** If using Mac OS 10.4.11, just click on the Apply to Enclosed items button.

Now test the game and let me know what happens.
