Has WoW peaked?

It's starting to feel more and more like World of Warcraft has hit its peak.
I know these forums have always been a home to the negative type poster, but
I'm certainly seeing a shift in just plain "childish" ranting, to serious concern about
the longevity of this game.

Like all things that peak, there is only one way to go.......down. Do Blizzard really care at this point?
I mean, sure they care, but not enthusiastically.

I'm disappointed in a few things but I wont mention them they have been debated since the beginning.
I just hope one of the newer MMORPG's can become my new game of choice soon. I feel like, at least on my server, like WoW is dying. And that condition seems to snow-ball once it starts. It takes away from any kind of long range goals you might have had. It makes you feel more like whats the sense in grinding, farming, etc.......when in a couple of months I'll be moving on.

I dunno, probably just wasted bandwidth with something everyone else feels anyway.

Sure was a good game for the first year and a half though.

No one ever knew that what World of Warcraft has accomplished would happen, not even us. The question shouldn't be, "Has WoW peaked" because that's very subjective. For someone that has just burnt out on content, it could be the peak for them. For others that are new, it could just be starting. I'm not a fortune teller and I couldn't possibly tell you what will happen next.

I see people constantly playing the part of doomsayer when it comes to World of Warcraft and of course people questioning if we care or not. Yes, we care about this game and its future. If we didn't care, we wouldn't continue adding to it, fixing bugs and planning for its future. We're all very invested in it and the community, no matter how others try to spin it.

I also see people claiming how they wish this or that game kills WoW. Frankly, I've always been of the mind that strong MMOs make for a strong genre. We've seen the populace that plays MMOs jump up significantly since the release of World of Warcraft and there is no telling where the pinnacle of that will be. There is no telling just how large this all can get.

We're still here, we're still extremely healthy, and we aren't going anywhere for a long while.

For those that wish to compare and contrast games, we have an off-topic forum. As always, this forum is for discussion of World of Warcraft and not a soapbox for whatever new game you wish to champion. Please respect the boundaries of the forums.

Q u o t e:

By "peaked" the OP means has the game reached the highest number of players that it can before it levels out or starts to decrease. That is not a on personal level.

Of which I addressed- "I'm not a fortune teller and I couldn't possibly tell you what will happen next. "

How many out there are fortune tellers? Show of hands please?

*Doesn't see any raised that could be taken seriously.*

That's what I thought. It's easy to ask the question, but it's not so easy to answer it. From our end of things, it doesn't look like a peak just yet. We've got our oxygen tanks, our hiking boots, and cold weather gear on as we keep climbing this mountain. I would offer you an energy bar, but we might just need it yet.

Here is a newsflash for the fanbois:

No new realms since when?

We haven't needed them since we raised the limit of players that can be on each realm at about the same time of the release of the Burning Crusade. You are equating no new realms to a decline in population which is a fallacy.

Q u o t e:

no log in queues since when?

You can't honestly believe that no login queues is a sign of something bad can you? Do you remember all those hardware upgrades we did? They were done to handle the loads of players, the new content and more. No queues means that we did what we set out to do and that is to handle the influx of players and get rid of a concern that players were having over needing to sit in queues to get in to play.

Q u o t e:
facts are facts, and the facts in this case? WoW peaked in Jan, with the release of the first x-pac and has been on a steady decline since then.

That's not a fact. That is your opinion dressed up in a pretty dress to look like a fact. I would address the rest of your post, but I don't tend to like tearing posts apart. These are your opinions and you are welcome to them but they are just that, opinions.
