Graphics card overheating at login screen
by Perception | 16/12/2007 08:03:12![]() Earlier today, I tried to log in WOW, and was stuck at a 800 queue. Ok cool fine, I went out while waiting for the queue. Came back 30 minutes later, to find my computer was extremely hot. Checked the Nvidia monitor, and it reported saying my graphics card was at 120°C... Lol? I quickly turned off my computer, unplugged everything, and let it cool down. After 10-20 minutes, I switched it back on and went to check the BIOS. System temp was fine, no problems I could see. Restarted my comp back into XP, and check the GFX card temp, which was around 47°C idle. Started WOW, which nearly instantly jumped the temp up 10-20 degrees. I was shocked. After logging in, I ran around awhile in Org, and my temp cooled down to around 55°C. Solid FPS 60-100+. No problems at all. Only at the WOW login screens. Only know the reason behind this? At the moment, I'm logging into the PTR, and my temps at around 77°C. I have a 7800 GTX, which I've had for a few years. I also have the fan speed on it set to max, since my case fan is having a few problems at the moment. |
