GPU load
by Sevbank | 22/03/2010 00:17:38![]() There was a topic about this about a month ago. I thought I'd make a new thread to see if anyone has come up with any solutions. Any time I am in a high populated area or in a 25 man my cpu is spiking up to 90% + usage on both cores while my card's GPU load is chilling out at 0%. I just completed a ten man ICC and it was the same in combat but I guess I have enough resources to handle the 10 man on mid settings and pull 40-50+ fps. Outside of combat and in less populated areas I will see some gpu usage and only about 25% cpu usage. Does anyone know a fix to this. After all the extensive research and tuning I have done I believe this is what the problem is. There is no reason my card load should be at 0% while my processors are working double time. I can provide screenshots and a DXdiag if you like. thanks~ [ Post edited by Sevbank ] |

The thing that will limit it is if your GPU isn't told to work on things. From your description, your CPU is bogged down (your usage spiked up to 90%, which isn't normal on a dual core processor) and your video card is idling as a result of your processor busy doing other stuff. What it is doing is a mystery unless we can narrow it down. Basically it needs to go down to normal values (~50%) so it can send data to your video card again instead of chewing what it's chewing on. Do you know if removing your addons and hiding your combat log helps? That's the easiest thing to check for outside of something like CPU speed throttling and power management/Cool n Quiet.
