FPS problems

I get a lot of fps problems most of the time my game will run over 100 fps in most areas. But once in a while I will get a long period where my fps will just die to 2-5 fps and its impossible to play. This only happens in WoW. I can't tell you for sure if its just outlands or azeroth as i dont hang out in azeroth at all pretty much. I play on maxed out AA AF(nvidia/ingame) settings on 1600x1200. Im pretty sure its not a heat problem either because my cpu is running 40-42c full load and my case is cooled fairly good with a lot of case fans.

My computer specs are:
Vista Home Premium
p5n32-e SLI premium
e6600 2.4ghz OCed to 2.93
2gig OCZ pc6400
2 Evga 8800gts - SLI enabled(latest nvidia drivers)
2 74g raptors(raid 0)
550w PS

First comp I built in years but im pretty sure im not supposed to be running at 5 fps with that hardware.

Hi sugarlips,

You may want to try running a program such as Process Explorer (http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sysinternals/utilities/ProcessExplorer.mspx) and see if any programs are causing you to slow down to a crawl. It may help reveal subtle things such as the Vista file indexer, Defender or any other processes that may be using system resources at these times. For best results, go to the columns section in the program and enable the CPU History view. We haven't tested SLI under Vista so you may want to try using a single card to see if just SLI in general is causing an issue.
