Forced Namechange Help
by Psych | 16/09/2009 23:57:46![]() Hello, I brought this issue up through wowadmin@blizz but the response was so close to a form letter that I really do not believe they read my email below. Can I ask you to consider the below request for the name that I have held for 4 years playing WoW to be restored? Below is the email I sent: ********* Hello, I wish to have my character name restored. Although it has been misread by a few people - the name Cyke (read: Psych) does not fall under the offenses provided below (ie. Have any racial/ethnic connotations). Other examples of proper pronunciation include: Bicycle Cylinder Cyrus Cypher Cystic Fibrosis I have had Cyke on Moon Guard for 2 years. Before that I had an undead mage named Cyke on Steamweedle Cartel for approximately 2 years as well (I have since moved him to Moon Guard as Syke). I am well known on the server and believe I have a good reputation as well. People have returned after months of being offline and made a point of saying or waving hello when they see my character. I would like to maintain this familiarity. I have come up against this type of misunderstanding in the past (although this is my first suspension and forced rename) and have taken the time to make sure people know how to properly pronounce my name since it should have no ties or perceived insults to the Jewish community. I should also point out that there are currently 63 other instances of Cyke reported in wowarmory.com. Although I am certain it is far more work to remove rather then place a ban on someone's name, I would ask that the work involved be done to restore Cyke's name. Thank you for your consideration. |
