False Authenticator Added, need name change.
by Slwoasd | 13/05/2010 22:08:59![]() I transferred my warrior to another server last night. I log in today to find that an authenticator I do not own has been linked to my account and I cannot log in. Checking my account's characters here on the forums I have discovered that my warrior has been renamed "Slwoasd" by whoever hacked the account. I kindly request that the linked authenticator be removed and my character given a name change for me to use once I can finally log back in. Side note: Something tells me that today's wave of false authenticator additions isn't on the client end. I am green with envy. Good thing I'm an Orc. |

They didn't get the login info from us and that's for certain. :) I can try to undo both the authenticator and work on your character's name. Let me look into both cases. Please check [[ Account Compromise Info Center ]] You need to secure your computer or your browsing habits so that you do not get hit again when we remove the authenticator. They generally get to your account for your World of Warcraft stuff, thru either email/in-game scams/lookalike account management or Battle.net/Armory sites or thru a keylogger. Please stand by. Keep in mind that the Technical Support department does not do in-game restores so if you're missing anything after we get rid of the authenticator, you will need to contact the right people. All of that is in the link. by Datth | 13/05/2010 22:39:00![]() You may want to try something more thorough like Malwarebytes and/or CCleaner. I removed the authenticator, forced a password reset and did a force character rename on you. The next time you log onto Slwoasd, you'll be prompted to rename him. I'm not sure what to do with your guild name, though. When you contact the GMs to have your stuff restored, you can ask them about that too. For the man in the middle-type things, they hit your computer first. It either logs you and sends it to a live person on their side so they can enter in your stuff as fast as they can (usually while the Authenticator number is still alive), or they block the game from logging in so that you get frustrated and remove your authenticator. They'll use that time to log on and mess up your stuff.
