I recently renewed my subscription to wow and had to update my client from 3.3.3a to 3.3.5a. It seems to have successfully patched through, but no matter what I try (And I've tried almost everything) I keep logging in only to find 0%, restart to apply patch, and then the "failed to apply patch" error.

I've tried running the repair tool as well, but it too gives me an error. This one is "Cannot connect to the server to download repair information. Please try again later."

If those steps (especially the proxy checkbox) did not help you, you're looking at an internet security program that is on your computer somewhere. It's having fun blocking those tools.

Try starting the Launcher instead of the game. The Launcher is capable of forcing a patch download unless something is blocking it too.

What is the launcher saying? It doesn't have a failed to apply patch message. It's usually a bit more verbal than that. Do you see the news items at least? The play button should not light up.

Please make sure you're going to the right set of servers for the game version check and the patches. Exit the game. Go into your World of Warcraft\Data\enUS\ folder and open the Realmlist.wtf file in Wordpad. Make sure these two lines are inside:

set realmlist us.logon.worldofwarcraft.com
set patchlist us.version.worldofwarcraft.com
set realmlistbn ""
set portal us

Also open the WTF folder and open the config.wtf file. If there's a SET realmlist line there, make sure it's set to us.logon.worldofwarcraft.com
