Elemental Totem of Wrath, change for 2.3 pls?
by Marloa | 18/10/2007 23:04:23![]() As an elemental shaman in an end-game guild, I was wondering with all the changes coming up, will you also take a good look at the Totem of Wrath, please? Totem of Wrath provides 3% Spell Crit and 3% Spell Hit (at the cost of the additional DPS of the Searing Totem). As a 41 point talent, I feel this is a really lacking talent. 1). Druid’s 31 point talent destroys the Shaman’s 41 point talent. When compared to the 31 point DRUID talent, Moonkin Form: “While in this form the armor contribution from items is increased by 400%, attack power is increased by 150% of your level and all party members within 30 yards have their Spell Critical chance increased by 5%. Melee attacks in this form have a chance on hit to regenerate mana based on attack power. The Moonkin can only cast Balance spells while shapeshifted.” Arguably based on the way item stats are assigned and the fact they both effect the group, "5% Spell Crit" is approximately equal to "3% Spell Hit and 3% Spell Crit". In addition to that, the druid gets many other benefits with one tiny penalty (tiny because as a DPS raiders shouldn’t be healing). 2).The problem is compounded by the fact that in end-game raiding, most people are at Hit Cap for the fact they want max DPS / lowest resist chances. In an end-game guild, this causes the Totem of Wrath’s 3% Spell Crit and 3% Spell Hit to become a simple 3% Spell Crit totem. Furthermore, most casuals don’t even use Totem of Wrath, as it reduces their individual DPSes, they have a much better choice, the Searing Totem. 3). Raid viability Because of reason 1 and 2 and the great group healing provided by Resto Shamans, end-game guilds look at Elemental Shamans are looked at as ‘minor DPS’. Why bring a Elemental when the Resto has all those totems, Earth Shield, and great group healing? As a 41 point talent, don’t you think this totem should be more powerful? I have two very viable choices; no numbers are selected as Blizzard may decide how they feel about them. Both choices are not over powered and they will both scale with casuals and end game guild progression A). Perhaps, change the totem from Hit/Crit to a simple +X% Damage from Spell (for group)… Shadow Priest’s Misery brings 5% Damage from Spell to the entire raid, so a group-only totem is viable. B). Even better, make the 41 point buff the Wrath of Air totem by a percentage of your overall +damage. [ Post edited by Marloa ] |

Totem of Wrath is fine. There are times for Searing Totem and there are times for Totem of Wrath, and it varies depending upon whatever content you find yourself doing. If you find that Searing Totem is more advantageous for you and your play-style -- drop it and pick up Nature's Swiftness. |
