Drinking Nerfed?

Taken from http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/patchnotes/test-realm-patchnotes.html I really hope I'm misunderstanding this. So once my raid party is out of combat and every caster starts to drink there is a 5 sec delay? I can't imagine how this will slow down raids not to mention tough 5 mans that every sec counts. Please tell me I've read this wrong. |

It says 5 seconds "before you get the full benefit" which means it is only a partial benefit for the first 5 seconds and then it will be the water you know and love. |

Drysc had a discussion regarding this not too long ago, you can read it here: 2.4 - Drinking Nerf If you drink for 5 or more seconds, you shouldn't have any issues. In dungeons/raids I don't think it is hard to accomplish this between pulls or even during gauntlet runs. |

Because we wanted the change to affect more places than just Arenas where people drink. |

We are continuing to watch this change long with everything else that is currently on the Public Test Realm, but we have no current plans to alter it. |

We are aware of the bug that is causing this problem and it should be fixed soon on the PTR. Once this is done people will be able to experience it as we intend it to be and can provide feedback from there. |

There are lots of changes that we make that affect both sides of the game. Before making a change we do evaluate the impact it will make to both PvE and PvP, test things out, and alter it if needed. The change to drinking while it means that you won't get much mana by drinking for just 1 tick, it is unlikely it will have any major impact on the PvE side as finding time to drink for more than 2 seconds is generally easy to accomplish. |

In Hyjal and Black Morass, if the extra couple hundred mana is going to make or break your run, there is probably another issue that needs to be addressed. From my experience in both of these dungeons you need to be shooting out a lot of heals so healers need to drink for 10+ seconds to prepare as much as possible for the next wave. We absolutely consider both sides of the game and while this change can be seen as a nerf to players who drank for one tick, it will have a minimal impact on most players and situations |

I play the game quite a bit actually and in Shattered Halls one renew, rejuvenation, or dps spell hasn't been the deciding factor on a wipe. I haven't played it on the PTR, but in the gauntlet hallway if the healer isn't ready for us to grab the next pack, we communicate this, pull to the sides, and decide to wait for the next pair of reinforcements to come to us. This gives all of the casters a good chunk of time to drink and from there we can push through several more mobs in a row. |

You haven't read it wrong, but we've decided to have that rule only apply inside arenas. It's an inconsistency, but one we're ok with to prevent water from feeling unnecessarily weird everywhere else. |

Correct. |

There was certainly no lie, and they do have an idea of what's going on. There was nothing inaccurate about the statement he made at the time that he made it. We were continuing to watch the change and at the time he made the statement there was no "current plan" to alter it. We made the decision to alter it today after "continuing to watch the change". Please understand that taking information like this as a "lie" is exactly what makes it difficult for us to share information in advance, something players generally say they'd like for us to do. |
