Dream Item disappeared in Mail

Hi All,

I recently mailed my new Dagger of my dream (Widowmaker) to my main after buying it out from the AH. On arrival of the mail though, there was NO attachment present! It cost me 50G but is worth a lot more and extremely hard to come by. And as anyone of you would know, 50G is a lot of hard work and many sleepless night for a sub-40 level first character. It was my mount money.

I petitioned the GM a few times. Some were genuinely sympathetic and tried quite hard to help, while others just wanted to get rid of me by saying: "Is there anything else we could assist you with?" and just locked me out. All said that as they could not verify the item to my character, they would not restore it. This maybe due to the fact that the item had never actually been in my bags.

In my mind, they should be able to validate my claim easily because:
-the 50G transaction I carried out at the AH
-the existence of a previous owner of the item
-the item arriving in my alt's mailbox
-the item having been sent as an attachment to my main(forwarded with CTMail)
(even the title "auction won" was still on the mail)

Clearly their method of verification is severely flawed. Can someone say that something does not exist just because they cannot see it, even thought he might be visually impaired or even blind? Or if he is willing to only look where he chooses and nowhere else?

It was absolutely heart-wrenching for me. An emotional roller coaster ride when the hope of restoring the item rose and faded as I stayed up all night waiting for and talking to the GM, all the while fearing that they would just close the ticket as they see fit. (Is there anything else we could assist you with?... Clunk!) I am this close to chucking it all in. :"-(

Has anyone else had a similar experience?
Is there anything we can do?

Thanking you all for reading thus far and any suggestions. :"-)

Ask, and ye shall receive.

03/13/2007 15:40:39 - You retrieve Widowmaker from mailbox.
03/13/2007 15:40:43 - You successfully forward the Auction House letter announcing your purchase to your main character.
03/13/2007 15:40:45 - You send your newly-acquired Windowmaker to another character; however, the addressee's name did not belong to a character on your account.

It appears that a simple mix-up occurred during the forwarding process, Rosarav; for this, I do sincerely apologize. While I can only speculate on the matter, I do know that situations like this are generally attributed to the use of a mailing mod, as these add-ons typically expedite the procedure and, at times, cause accidents to happen.

My personal suggestion would be to forego the use of these types of add-ons in the future, friend. If not that, then I would sincerely encourage you to perhaps reset your user interface to ensure that this event was not due to some form of corruption. I've supplied the steps below:

Q u o t e:
1) Exit the World of Warcraft to your desktop by logging out of the game and exiting.

2) If you used an "installer" for a custom UI, see if it has an "uninstaller" and use it.

3) Inside the World of Warcraft Program Folder, rename the "WTF," "Cache," and "Interface" folders to "WTF-Old," "Cache-Old," and "Interface-Old."

4) Make sure that you are using WOW.EXE or LAUNCHER.EXE to start the game. Please do not run any UI installers beforehand, as we want to eliminate them as part of the issue.

As always, we encourage players to remain careful and cautious during any transaction in-game, as a fair amount of diligence can normally allow such potentially-unwanted situations from occurring.

Once more, I am very sorry that we are unable to return your beloved Widowmaker. If you have any concerns with this inability, I would ask that you please email wowgmfeedback-us@blizzard.com.

Thanks. :)
